Hello,
Here is my problem, I am unable to install the 1.0c patch for Age of Empires 2: The Conquerors.
When I run the patch, it tells me: The retail version of Age of Empires II: The Conquerors is not installed on this system. But I have installed the game, just not in C:\Programs Files\Microsoft Games..... I installed it on my D:\ drive. I think that might be the issue. Is there a way to change the patch destination other than in C:\ ?

L'expansion The Conquerors is supposed to be where? I mean, the .exe should be in C:\program files\microsoft games\age of empires II? I was told somewhere that it was supposed to have a folder Age_X1 or something like that which contains the .exe for the expansion, but I don't have that.
I have a problem with the installation. I am installing Age of Empires 2 The Conquerors, but when I want to play, it tells me to insert the appropriate CD-ROM and press OK, and then it restarts.

Yes, you paste it into the folder where the game's exe is located and you run it. If it asks for the address, you provide it.
In my opinion, it doesn't work because when you execute the patch, it looks for the game in "English or US," so install the FR patch.

When you launch the patch, it searches for the .exe file and does not recognize the crack; the only solution is to buy the game

Apparently, we're encountering a similar problem.
For me, it's the execution of the patch that's not working.
The execution in question stops abruptly at 63% with an explanation pretty much the same as yours, namely that it tried to copy the file but the directory is nonexistent.
I also have Vista like you.
Maybe the 1.0c patch that everyone is downloading is only compatible with XP and not Vista?
That might be the source of the problem.
In any case, I've been desperately searching for a Vista-compatible patch on the net for over an hour and I can't find one.
Would you have it or might someone else have found one, please?

I also have Vista and I have the game, I can download it but at the end it shows me the same problem...
I think the problem comes from Vista probably because Vista has "program" and not "program files", so the patch doesn't recognize the file...
If you want, come join me on gamespy so we can play together since we have the same versions...

To get a French patch, there is a way and it is simple for those who have the French version of Age of Empires II: The Conquerors expansion. If you want to help others, just go to the game source and copy 3 folders to your desktop:
TAUNT SOUND and HISTORY, then compress them into a .zip or .rar file using WinRAR or WinZip (makes sense) and post it on a forum. You will be the happy creator of this French patch for AoE 2: The Conquerors. The reason I'm posting this is that I don't have the French version myself, and I'm not hiding anything; I got it from an English friend, so I had no choice.

And unfortunately, the problem you have with the one you have is that the pirated version, therefore non-commercial, uses a no-cd and Ensemble Studios has made sure that no-cds do not work (I have the same problem), so! you remove the no-cd, you install the patch with the original executable, you run it, if it doesn't work, I don't know what to do, you need a CD AND if it works, you put the no-cd back, you launch it while ensuring that the patch works, if it is not active, you have one solution left: Buy the game :-)
