Solved

Good evening;

My PC running Windows XP Pro has crashed.

The symptoms are as follows: first, it kept rebooting endlessly, then after being turned off and back on, nothing happens.

Only the manufacturer’s splash screen opens.

There is no way to start it, not even to enter the BIOS.

If someone could enlighten me

Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 2.0.0.13

No need to enter the BIOS. There is a key at boot that allows you to choose the boot order. You must pay close attention to what is written on the first screen. Sometimes, it goes very fast.

I pressed the tab key to display the BIOS post, but nothing happens when I press it.

Thank you for your time.

If you press "del", what happens?
If you press F8, what happens?

You need to go fast and tap several times.

You seem to be everywhere, as far as I can tell!

If I press Dell, nothing happens, and if I press Tab, I reach the AMI page with the following choices: press Dell to run setup, press F8 for BBS popup, and whether I press F8 or Dell, nothing happens.

When you are in the BIOS, can you modify certain settings (with your keyboard since your mouse is not active at that time)?

I arrive at the BIOS welcome page with:

Press del to run setup
Press F8 for BBS POPUP
CHECKING NVRAM...
Initializing USB controllers ...

And there I'm stuck with the keyboard, I can't do anything.

If you press the "del" key, do you access the BIOS?

If you press F8 very quickly and multiple times during boot?

No, I tried to press immediately when the page opened but nothing happened. Could it be related to the hardware? (Power supply; Graphics card)
Or do you think it's a configuration issue?

You can try removing the graphics card and testing.

I tried but it's not that. When the bug started, I booted up normally and I got a message "Windows has recovered a missing file." I don't remember exactly what it was and I instinctively restarted but nothing happened after that.

How long have you had your PC?

I bought it in a hypermarket in 2005, but only the original hard drive remains; I upgraded it since then.

Hmm... It doesn't smell good...

I'm thinking of a silly thing: unplug all your peripherals and try again. Especially the USB ones.

Good evening, I had the same problem as you and the only solution I had was to format everything to reinstall Windows, and I didn't want to do that because I didn't want to lose all my documents that were on the hard drive, my photos, mp3s, movies...
I found a CD online that allows for a lot of things, thanks to this CD I was able to unlock my PC and get it to start. And even if you can't start your PC at all, you'll at least be able to back up all your documents thanks to this CD, even if your Windows won't start anymore, you can back everything up. I'll give you the website address where you can find this CD that I really recommend to everyone www.cddep.o-n.fr moreover, the purchase didn't break the bank because it costs 12€ and some change. Keep us updated!

I took out the RAM sticks and then put them back in, and now everything is working perfectly; it was due to a bad connection. Thank you for responding.

Have a good weekend, NICO.

Good evening,

Bad sign, that....

So you are able to enter the BIOS. Are you able to change the boot order and boot from the CD?

After several attempts, I made it to the BIOS cover page, but after that, nothing happened.

It's more of a motherboard issue, in my opinion....

But we need to try everything first: enter the BIOS, test the RAM, ...

I changed the graphics card not long ago, so maybe ...
I have a 8600 GT graphics card and an ASUS P5 LDZ-VM motherboard.

I found there was a bad connection between the RAM and the motherboard, hence the following message in the BIOS:

Press del to run setup
Press F8 for BBS POPUP
cHECKING NVRAM...
Initializing USB controllers ...

So I took apart the RAM and put it back together.

And it works.
