Hello!
I have a small problem, but extremely annoying!
I have a (black) screen that appears when I start my computer, followed by a "beep."
The screen has a lot of stuff written in English, at the beginning it says:
"Notebook ID: 25ABCED
Press F2 to run setup
Press F11 if you want to boot from the network
Press F12 for BBS POPUP"
then a bunch of stuff I don't understand...
then it ends with:
"Press F2 to resume"
Since F11 and F12 aren't responding, I press F2, and it then shows the "BIOS SETUP UTILITY" (blue screen)
to be able to start, I have to hit escape then enter and then it starts normally.
In fact, I think every time I start it asks me how I want to boot (from the hard drive, a CD...)
How do I get rid of all this???

Hello,
Generally speaking, when a PC beeps at startup and asks to enter the setup, it has detected an anomaly. This could indicate something like:
- a fan not spinning
- the size of the memory has been changed
- the PC case not properly closed
- ... and many other things
In the part of the text that you do not understand, it should be indicated, you need to transcribe it here to see what the PC is saying
Best regards.

Is it serious, doctor?
If we take the lines:
- Ultra DMA Mode-5, S.M.A.R.T. Capable and Status BAD
- Pri Master Hard Disk: S.M.A.R.T. Status BAD, Backup and Replace
I interpret this as a warning indicating that the hard drive is in poor condition, and that you should back up the data it contains and replace it
So the best advice is to follow the recommendation to back up all data you care about. If you are still under warranty/maintenance, call support.
Otherwise, you wait for the disk to fail before replacing it (if you don't replace it right away)
Best regards.

Okay, I see... Thanks for the info, even though it's pretty bad news! Especially since my computer is probably no longer under warranty!
Yes, but that doesn't help me much... it's quite hard to understand this... I need 5 minutes for the first beep to sound, and then after the first beep, the second one follows immediately, but every time F1, F2, etc. appears on the screen... so the thing in English... and when I press F2, it works 1 time out of 3, otherwise I have to restart it until it works ^^ thanks for helping me if you can ^^
Hi ;))
As I experienced a mishap with the secondary hard drive...
Check that the electrical contacts are good = move the power cables of your hard drive!
The warranty is over; so you can open the beast... :))
Is the PC battery still good? Check in the BIOS! If the time is correct... Unplug/replug the PC.
A Scandisk = CHKDSK might do the trick! Where has Scandisk gone under Windows XP? :
Scandisk no longer exists under Windows XP. It has been replaced by the chkdsk command in the command prompt.

Or still:
By Anonymous
1. open MY COMPUTER
2. right-click on the drive to test
3. click on PROPERTIES
4. click on the TOOLS tab
5. click on CHECK NOW, after checking the desired level of check
Thanks, see you later.
