Icon "Mail" missing in panel of

Hi,

Since the post is already a bit old, I'm not sure if you're still following up on this issue.

I've installed Windows Vista 64-bit some time ago.
However, I've just realized that the "Mail" icon is also missing from the control panel.

To work around the problem, go to the installation folder of your Office, and look for a file named MLCFG32.CPL.

Then you just need to double-click on the file to open the Mail window.

I am on Vista but I don't have a "mail" icon in the notification area; however, I have it installed on the desktop and it's just as convenient. It all depends on what you expect from it... ;-)

Hi,
Same issue on Windows Vista 64 with Outlook 2007 and an Exchange 2003 server.
I managed to do it on other machines, never had problems with XP, but here Vista doesn't show a "Mail" icon in the control panel.

To resolve this issue, do the following:

1. Ensure that the file in the following Control Panel exists and functions as expected:
Drive: \PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\System\MSMAPI\1033\mlcfg32.cpl
2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit and click OK.
3. Locate the following Registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\MMCPL
4. Ensure that the Registry entry mlcfg32.cpl exists. Also, make sure its value is set as follows:
Drive: \PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\System\MSMAPI\1033\mlcfg32.cpl
If the Registry entry mlcfg32.cpl does not exist, you need to create it. To do this, proceed as follows:
1. Right-click on the Registry subkey MMCPL, point to New and click String Value.

I would add one thing: depending on the version of Office 2003, 2007, or 2010, the common path is different. I have 2010, so the path is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1036\mlcfg32.cpl

I added the reg key, restarted my computer and the icon is there.
