Hello,
I have a big problem, I would like to restore my system to "factory settings" because I am ultimately disappointed with Windows Vista.
Details about my configuration:
Acer Aspire 9300 Series, I am on Windows Vista Home Premium Edition upgraded, meaning that the PC was originally sold with Windows XP Media Center Edition, then I had the option to upgrade to Vista for the modest sum of €8.
But here it is, I ultimately do not like Vista.
No installation CD was sold with the PC.
I have therefore used Acer eRecovery Manager to perform the restoration from Windows, I burned the CD that restores to factory settings called "ACERBACKUP01", but during reboot, the restoration fails at 0% for an unknown reason.
I simply saw "Restore failed, the computer will restart." I do not know where the error comes from, also noting that in my Disk Management, the hidden partition has no name whereas it should be called PQSERVICE, and I cannot interact with it except by Right Click>Help.
Moreover, contrary to what I have read, I do not have any password required for Acer eRecovery.
-I have also, for a long time, uninstalled the entire Empowering Acer suite except for eRecovery; could this be related to the failure of the restoration?
Thank you in advance for any future responses, I eagerly await help from the community.

Look at this CCM restoration tip
If nothing works, there is a "chance" that the switch to Vista has altered the MBR (master boot record) that allows the backup partition to start.

Hi,
if you press F10 at boot you should access the recovery partition and see the menu.
It’s better to back up your personal data and format C: to remove all traces of Vista.

Hi,
it's possible that your recovery CD was improperly burned.
If you haven't formatted your hard drive, you should be able to access your recovery system by pressing Alt and F10 at startup as soon as you see the ACER logo on the screen.
Otherwise, call Acer and request a recovery CD; for that, prepare your machine's number, Windows number, etc., which will be asked of you.
See you later!

I have tried many times F10; Alt F10; F12, nothing happens except for an unbearable noise, a kind of repeated BEEP.
Yet D2D is enabled in the BIOS.
I will try to call ACER, I will keep you updated this afternoon.
Otherwise, how is it possible that the burning process went wrong when I have never touched the hidden partition and that it's Acer Erecovery that handles this burning?
For your information, I burned it onto a Medion 4.7GB DVD+RW.

Hello, due to a hard drive problem on my ACER Aspire 9302 WSMI PC running Vista Home, purchased in November 2006, I am looking for a restoration DVD in its original configuration. My DVD has damaged and become unusable. If any member or anyone else is able to provide me with a copy, I am interested and open to any proposal.

Hi,
Go to the Acer website, if your machine was registered at the time of purchase, with your name and the specifications of the machine and Windows, it's possible to obtain an original recovery CD.
Regarding your request, it is impossible to obtain a CD for another machine; it is illegal, it’s piracy.
You give the date of November 20, 2006, for a PC equipped with Vista; something is off, the official release of Vista was on January 29, 2007.
See you later!

OK thanks for taking over, I was away. As you rightly pointed out, the switch to Vista must have formatted the partition and thus the recovery system.
Have a good evening
See you!
