Hello,
I need some material advice, I know it sounds a bit silly but it's really a material problem:
actually, when I press the power button on my HP desktop, it stays pressed down (normally the button springs back towards me)....so the computer turns on and since it stays pressed, it turns off after 5 seconds (just like when I manually shut down my computer by holding the reset button for 5 seconds).....so I would really dislike having to change my computer just because of a power button issue....whereas everything else works perfectly fine...
Unfortunately, I am no longer under warranty.
My computer is an HP Pavilion w5029.fr, so if someone has already faced this issue with this model, I would be interested to know...
Otherwise, I live in Lyon and I have no idea where to get this technical problem repaired.....does anyone have any advice, please?
Thank you very much and happy Easter Monday!!

It must be a simple problem with the button's attachment. You should dismantle the front panel of your PC (there should either be clips or screws accessible from the inside) and properly reinsert the button in its slot. Otherwise, if you're afraid of messing it up, take it to get it repaired, but they'll charge you a fortune for something they will do in 2 minutes.
Thank you both...
I actually opened my tower, but I was a bit hesitant to take apart the front panel. I saw that there were clips and screws from the inside... but since there are wires going through, I thought, well, be patient and you can go to the repair shop... but indeed, I agree that it's going to cost me a lot for not much... so I'm still going to try to unscrew the front panel... and play Mac Gyver!!

We're going to call McGYVER!!!!!
It's relatively simple (at least in theory!): you need to open your tower... unplug it first! Then, from the inside, you should be able to remove the front panel... go slowly!
You locate the two wires from the button, and you check the state of this button... usually, it's a bit of plastic that acts as a "spring"; in the worst case, it's broken... still in the worst case, you can very well insert a small switch ("momentary contact" and not "permanent contact") into the front panel!!!

Ah, I finally opened my case...
and you were right, it’s just a mechanical issue:
actually, it’s the push-button system that pushes the computer's switch that’s broken... it’s plastic and after being pushed so many times, well, it broke in several places...
so I can repair that with glue or tape, but it's not going to be easy....
either I leave my tower without the case to manually press the switch...but that doesn’t seem like a great solution either.....
so do you know if there's a way to get parts like that... or am I ultimately forced to go to my repair shop?
