Why aren't MSN emoticons showing up?

It's very simple, I had this problem 5 minutes ago..
Go to the Windows Messenger page, click on your username, go down to "Options," and there you'll have several choices on the left side of your screen. Scroll down to messages, and check if the boxes indicating whether to show emoticons are checked or not :) If not, check them! ^^

There you go, it works for sure, and then you need to close all pages (you don't have to log out) and just restart your chats, and it will work!

Well, my issue was that if, since a conversation, I tried to check Tools -> Display Emojis, nothing happened. That is, "Display Emojis" would not get checked.

If I went to Tools -> Options -> Messages, checked "Display Emojis", and left the "Display Custom Emojis" box checked (by default), when I "applied", it didn't work either.

The solution is to proceed in two steps.

1st step
Go to Tools -> Options -> Messages, check "Display Emojis", but uncheck "Display Custom Emojis"
Apply

2nd step
Go to Tools -> Options -> Messages and, this time, check "Display Custom Emojis"
Apply and enjoy ^^

I can do a MAX of 6 things at the same time, it works for all contacts, and it's been like this since the power cuts, and now it doesn't display a single emoji anymore.

They are all there from A to Z. It's annoying because even the standard emoticons [ :( :) ] are not displaying.

That's really weird yeah... so you're going to click on your name, go down to options and then go to messages, check if "display emoticons" and the one next to it aren't unchecked.
