Canon PIXMA MP170 paper jam

Hello,
I finally succeeded in getting my Pixma-170 to work again. I had to disassemble and reassemble it. I didn’t find anything special but took the opportunity to clean a bit everywhere. Once reassembled, it started working, fortunately.

1. Try cleaning the paper feed roller. Press [Menu] repeatedly until <MAINTENANCE> appears. Use [<] or [>] to select <ROLLER CLEANING>. Repeat 2 times without paper loaded in the machine and then 2 times with paper loaded.
2. Make sure that the appropriate paper type is used. Check to see if the paper you are printing on is not too thick or too thin.
3. Make sure that the media is not curled, or damp.
4. Make sure that the media type is selected correctly in the printer driver. On the [Main] tab of the printer driver, ensure that the [Media Type] selected matches the paper loaded.
5. Make sure that the paper is loaded correctly. Load in the portrait orientation regardless of the print direction of the Auto Sheet Feeder and slide the paper guides against the paper stack (but not too tight).

However, if the same error persists after all the countermeasures are taken, please turn off the printer, remove the power cord plug from the outlet for approximately 30 minutes, plug the power cord back in, and then turn on the printer again.
If the above steps do not solve the problem, we will advise you to have the printer checked out by a Canon engineer, as this would indicate a malfunction with the paper feed unit.

Thanks for the idea! I did the same for my paper jam that I thought was fake, and a small piece of 5x5 photo paper came out.
It's been a month since it fell into my hands!!!

Hello OUAHAB and everyone - I had the same issue with my Pixma MP 170... at first, nothing worked, so I did a good cleaning, taking the opportunity to clean the two felt pads of the print heads... I used 80-gram paper and the problem disappeared with regular bristol paper... I went into my printer's menu and instead of selecting: normal paper, I set the configuration to: MAT photo paper which is usually thicker... and voilà, miracle, the thing works like clockwork again... Be careful, there’s quite a bit of ink on the gears near the right side of the machine... cotton swab and water, the gears can turn thanks to the pulleys hidden behind the left cover of the printer when you're facing it and manually push the print heads back, there are two or three white gears... Good luck.
