My Archos won't turn on at all!! Solved/Closed

Hello,

I have a problem with my Archos Gmini 402 Camcorder: it won't turn on at all! I press the button to turn it on, and nothing happens. The screen doesn't respond and no indicator lights up. I've tried plugging it into the wall to charge it, but the charging light doesn't come on either! I plug it into the PC, but there's nothing to be done since it won't turn on!
I think it experienced a surge because I was in the car when it happened. In fact, the battery was in the red and the Archos shut down. So, being in the car and having no Archos car charger, I desperately looked for another car charger. I found the one for my portable DVD player and plugged it into my Archos. There, the charging light doesn't come on, but the Archos turns back on. Then, 5 minutes later, the Archos freezes! I press the button to turn it off for 10 seconds and it shuts down. And then nothing! It won't turn on, no lights even when charging!

P.S: the warranty has expired!

I have read the previous messages on the subject. I pressed the reset button in the battery compartment. I get a few seconds of operation when restarting and that's it. What is happening? Please give me a tip...

I have the same problem too. I had a first Archos 105 that got stuck (black screen), the warranty worked but now it’s happened again with the new one they gave me (frozen on the home screen). Is this one also dead? It's frustrating, can it work again? It froze while it wasn't plugged in; I was just listening to music, which I do almost all the time. I would like to be able to listen to music quickly.

I had a similar problem and all I had to do was remove the battery and press a "Reset" button. I have an Archos 704 so I don’t know what the other models are like, but give it a try. I expected to lose all the content but no files were deleted =)

I have pretty much the same problem as you but with an Archos 5; I just bought it a few days ago and right after downloading the plugins provided by the Archos website (just after registering), my screen went dark. At first, I wasn't concerned because this happens all the time (the backlight thing to save the screen), but the screen didn't turn back on when I touched it and after 5 minutes it didn't turn off automatically as it usually does. Also, the light indicating that the device is on was green and I couldn't turn it off. It discharged overnight, so I plugged it into my computer and it wasn't recognized by the computer either, but that seems normal since you need to activate the USB with the touchscreen and since that won't turn on...

I'm really bad at computers, I don't understand anything but my dad told me that if it was a software problem due to the plugins, the warranty wouldn't apply, so I'm a bit panicked.... If someone could help me, that would be great! I will still try to take it for repair tonight or tomorrow...

I recently bought this tablet, and I am very disappointed with it. As someone working in IT, it's frustrating to experience constant freezing just in the first few days.
Recently, I wanted to transfer a movie to my tablet (virus-free) and I disconnected it from the PC via the USB cable! Since that day, nothing works anymore, not even with the famous reset button. Even when charging it (which was already well charged), the little button shows red! So I say it’s simply rubbish! I threw it out of the window and am very happy to no longer buy devices of this kind, which are ineffective! Luckily, I had the sense not to store important files on it; my instinct told me so, and I was not wrong!

Hello, for these devices number 7 (or the others) that are not working. Don't worry!

Ideal solution that works almost all the time: Press very hard with a sharp object on the reset button (don't hesitate to press hard and for a long time).

I've read everything that came before, all the tips and tricks for all the models, I've tried everything but nothing works. (reset for 30 seconds, turning it on/off for 30 seconds, connecting it to the computer...) Do you have another solution? However, I still haven't tried holding the ''reset'' button for 20 minutes, but I'm not going to do that, right? Archos surely must have planned something better than making their customers wait 20 minutes on a button to unlock the device, right?
I don't know what to do anymore, help me.

Hello, same black screen problem, unable to turn on my tablet.  With a pin, I pressed reset and at the same time I pressed the power button, the tablet turned back on.  Take care.

If the Reset button is the button to turn it on, but you have to press it for 10 seconds.
