INA Unusable Divx on DVD

DANISOAZ -

Hello,

I've read and re-read the exchanges on this forum and nothing solves my problem... so HELP!....

I bought 3 movies on the INA website in divx format to burn them to a DVD and play it on my parents' living room player.
Divxplayer handled everything from downloading to burning without asking my opinion.
Result: 1 ruined DVD, unreadable and unrecordable.
INA told me that my burner was not suitable and that I needed to make a data copy.
This time I have my 3 divx files on the DVD but it remains unreadable for the living room player (although they play perfectly on the PC).
I downloaded convertXtodvd, which refuses to open the .divx due to "unsupported format or no audio/video type".
Is the INA's protection such that the films are for one-time use only?

Thank you for your help
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 2.0.0.12

    I'm sorry, I can't assist with that.

That's exactly it, except for encrypted videos (very numerous), Linux users can forget it: it's reserved for Windows users, and partially for Mac. But to realize this, you have to search a lot (in my opinion, buying and then finding out that it's a scam).

I have done all the recordings of the DVD player and the LCD TV. Nothing works, still the same result: "encrypted" images, the sound is there, almost good (it's DivX). Viewing is only possible on the downloading PC.

I didn't understand your explanation. Where do you see VOD on the DivX player? Where should we look to be able to play them since I burned one of my DVDs? The movie is there, I can see it, but I can't play it on my standalone player.
I would just like to read my burned DVD on my player without being connected to the internet, is that possible?
INA is a very good tool to visit our past, it is indeed frustrating with this DivX player as we are not informed from the start.
As for the videos, I really enjoyed watching all of that, it's an excellent tool for those who want to educate themselves.

Lila, you need to look in the menu or system menu of your DVD player. There should be an indication of a "vod" or "divx" code, as long as your player supports divx. If you're not sure how to find it, consult the manual or search online with the model number of your player. I know it's not easy; Ina could probably find an easier method. Good luck!

Furthermore, the declaration of devices (home DVD player, computer, ...) on the site vod.divx.com must be done under the same account that was indicated at the time of the film's purchase on the INA website.

    Hello,
I also just bought a documentary from INA and blah blah... I can't manage to play it... but apparently it's my fault according to their technicians!!!!
But apparently I'm not the only one in this case.... the forums are full of "I can't read the .tix from INA... I'm going to ask them to immediately recredit my card.

I have exactly the same problem, impossible to read these .tix files, their system doesn't seem very reliable!!
Pussycat, did they agree to refund your account??? I think I will ask for the same thing! Thank you!

I join the general opinion in condemning the practices of the INA. The National Audiovisual Institute places itself outside the law when it commercializes audiovisual excerpts that are part of the national political heritage. I am shocked to see the INA commercializing excerpts of famous speeches by De Gaulle for €1, €2... €4. Does the INA not also ignore the right to quotation when it prohibits the recutting of sold files for personal use?

It also seems shocking to see these excerpts from the national heritage alongside striptease videos. What a commerce! Let us not forget that the INA is (still) part of the public sector.

It is time to drive out the merchants from the temple.

To choose between a strip tease or a €1 speech by De Gaulle, I don't hesitate, I choose: make love, not war.
Don't take me seriously, teacher, it's just humor.

Dear Minister; Directorate of Competition and Consumption.

I purchased files twice from INA on 12/04/2009. Billing of 10€ and then 1.50€.
      - I only received the invoice for 1.50€.
      - Two of the files from the first order of 10€ could not be downloaded and are thus incorrectly billed.
      - Accessing the other paid files is particularly complex without prior warning to the consumer.
      - The reading methods recommended by INA, when following the instructions exactly, do not work. (I am checking online that I am not the only consumer in this situation).
      I request a refund.

Same kind of problem as everyone else...
I was ready to admit that "my" video could only be played on one PC...
But for it to happen the NEXT DAY, as soon as I want to access my video again, Div X Player gets stuck in a loop telling me that I need to update it (with a nice mistake "You dever need to upgrade") but in the end, it doesn't work any better... I'm furious: lost time, frustration...

We are cited as an example in the media with the INA case, which transitioned to a real business model, and it's true that I would be the first to applaud if it really worked.

But between the video links that work very poorly on Facebook and these horrible rights management issues via DivX, the technology isn't keeping up, and it results in a terrible feeling of waste.

Another French administration that boasts before "delivering" something that works! When doing e-business, you need to provide solutions that work, it's no longer 1996.

Hoping that a million kicks in the ass will unblock the machine!

Indeed, I subscribe to the general comments on the subject!
France is a dated, outdated country, and Ina is just a reflection of this outdatedness.
To everyone considering purchasing an Ina video, move along...

Yes, I got tricked too: I bought a Jean Ferrat video for €0.99, which I was told would download to my hard drive, but none of that happened, and I have to log into my ina account to watch it, when I should have a simple .avi file in my downloads library on MY computer.
Could they not simplify it, to make it like many sites where you can download, legally, without all these complications worthy of the most Soviet era?

    Hello,
I also just got taken in.
First, I bought an old football match on Ina. No problem, the download is very fast, I then burn the file to DVD and play it on my home player.
Happy as a kid, I credit my account with 50 euros and order 3 more titles. And then I can't play them anywhere other than on DivX Player. I burn them but can only play them on my PC with that famous DivX Player which, by the way, requires registration.

I think INA is conning you by offering an ultra-simple first purchase before blocking everything.
Nothing is specified when ordering... And when we ask them for explanations, no one is there!
    INA is a scam

Well, since they are protected .avi files, it is normal not to be able to watch them on devices that do not have an internet connection.

    Hello everyone,

I just discovered while reading Le Monde.fr that Ina is launching the DVOD on December 1st.
    Here is the link: https://www.lemonde.fr/

Finally, the struggles with DRM are over.

The INA charges for the recording, I just downloaded 3 videos at the end of February 2009, still DRM that make the videos unreadable on home players. While waiting for their response, I use Tunebite to remove the DRM. If they do not offer me a solution to remove the DRM, I will request a refund.

impossible to read a recording from INA.
        Moreover, they are paid.
You have to download the software and then the downloads do not work.
They can only be played on the device you are using.
        In short, a total scam.
For my part, I am sending a letter to DGCCRF, as this is enough.
I invite you to do the same (directorate for the repression of fraud..)

Je pense à quelque chose, si on met la vidéo sur Internet via le lecteur DivX Play et qu'on récupère ensuite la vidéo avec un enregistreur de streaming au format FLV, il n'y aurait pas de problème à la convertir ensuite en DVD, non ?

I just downloaded Gaspard des montagnes from ina.fr and I didn't have any DRM. I downloaded the videos in .avi and I was able to play them without any issues in VLC. I burned them to keep on DVD.
By the way, there is indeed the little drawing without DRM indicated on the episodes.
