Configure Avast for eMule and Kad

Hello,
I read everywhere that to prevent KAD from being behind a firewall, you need to disable antivirus or at least configure it to avoid this problem.
Does that mean that if we do this, we leave the door open to all the junk running on the internet?
Personally, I have Avast and in the P2P shield, I have configured it to scan files coming from eMule.
If I disable this, will it allow KAD to be open?
And if so, what risks do I take in terms of PC security?
Thank you in advance for your answers!
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

    Good evening benito86,

It is certain that by configuring Avast and especially your Windows firewall, you will be able to open the mule's ports (TCP and UDP).

However, you are not taking much of a risk in terms of security since it only opens the mule's ports and therefore it is not a gateway for all sorts of nasty things! Just those that might potentially come from the mule.

To prevent KAD from being behind a firewall, you need to disable antivirus software.

Really? Well, it works perfectly at my place! I have Avast and it runs completely.
What you need to do is configure your firewall and/or your router.

Since the forum's charter seems to prohibit it, benito86, come see me on MSN if you have any issues

Eh, what will the Kad network be useful for? It's not like that will speed up your mule...

One last thing, the forum charter doesn't seem to approve of discussing eMule in this forum or anything else illegal...
