Question

Hello, here is Santa Claus who has left a 8 GB iPod Touch at the foot of the Christmas tree.
Everything was working very well until that stupid Livebox crashed...
We called Orange who very kindly removed lots of programs.
So my problem is that this brand new computer from November doesn't recognize my iPod; the only error message it displays is
"The iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service has not started." But what is that?
HELP ME, I'M BEGGING YOU!!!!!!!!

Go to Start/Run/ type: services.msc and click ok/ find the name of the service (apple mobile device), right-click on it, set it to Automatic and click on Start.  And there you go.

Hello

1. Uninstall iTunes if it's already on the PC

To do this, Start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs
In the list, look for iTunes, click on it, and then click the Remove button

2. Reinstall iTunes

Go to this page: iTunes and click on the download button (in blue).

Once the file is downloaded, run it and follow the installation steps for iTunes.

3. Test if it works

Connect your iPod with iTunes open and see if it works.

Does it work?

Yes --> congratulations !!
No --> try restarting and go back to step 3 (sometimes a restart is indeed necessary).

Thank you all for your advice, I had the same problem with my 16gb iTouch and I couldn't click on start, everything was blocked. Like an idiot, I hadn't logged into the admin account.  Don't forget ;)

For those who have tried all the methods written before, like going to Services and starting Mobile Device, but it still doesn't work.

You can still try to do as I did; go to Control Panel, then in the Programs tab, click on Uninstall a program, and finally look for Apple Mobile Device Support and click on Repair.

Normally, that should work; you can always check in Services if Apple Mobile Device is started, but it should happen automatically.

Very easy problem to solve:
1. Right-click on the "Computer" icon
2. Select "Manage," which will open the Computer Management console.
3. Click on Services and Applications
4. Click on Services (All computer services will appear on the right)
5. Select "Apple Mobile Service"
6. Right-click on "Apple Mobile Service"
7. Select "Start."

There you go, the Apple Mobile Service is started.

I suggest that if nothing works,  Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > and repair everything that is called Apple (Apple Mobile Device Support / Apple Software Update / Apple Application Support) > Modify > Repair.  Then reinstall iTunes, and Run > services.msc > Apple Mobile Device > Started.  Good luck!

As for me, I did everything, I started Apple Mobile Device. Then the message no longer appeared. However, iTunes did not recognize my iPod. I SIMPLY QUIT iTunes, REOPENED IT, AND IT WORKED

Finally, after a week of struggling and being unable to update my iPhone because it wasn't recognized, or rather, it was impossible to connect it to iTunes.

So, for me, it was the method of Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall a program/Apple Mobile Device Support ---> repair!!

P.S.: I still went to Orange and Apple, and no one knew what to do!
