You need 9 hieroglyphs; check your inventory or your treasures to see if you have 9.
I'm not sure if you need to place them yourself using the menu or if the character does it themselves.
Normally, if the character asks for a rectangle, it means you must be missing some hieroglyphs.
Otherwise, here are the places where the hieroglyphs are located:

1) In the deep jungle (next to the crossing)
2) In the shipwreck lagoon (on the boat)
3) On the beach where there is the "dock" to go to the 2nd island (next to one of the pillars)
4) In the dark cave (island 2), next to the ancient gateway
5) In the skull jungle (next to the giant skull itself)
6) In the east river plain (toward the end of the area, not too sure precisely)
7) In the south river jungle (next to the river)
8) In the volcano jungle (next to the 3 hot springs)
9) In the geyser plain (next to the ancient gateway)

Actually, you need to go to a workbench, and in one of the options, you create a frame with your 9 hieroglyphs

To gather your sims, you need a kind of horn or seashell (I can't quite remember), check in tools or in the menu then inventory, it should be there. If you can't find it, let me know and I will check my save file.

Don't worry, your game is not glitching, to go to the 3rd island you need to build a shelter with a comfortable bed etc.. (when you build, you will see a small red house, the higher the level, the more at ease your sims will be and they will have more energy (that's what I did and it worked).

On the 2nd island at the place where there is quicksand, you cannot cross, it's normal, you will only be able to pass through there when you are on the 3rd island, you will go through a path that will bring you to the other side of the sand and then you will have to push a piece of the ancient door to be able to cross (at that spot you will find a piece of the treasure map).

To hunt the wild boar, you need an obsidian spear (you have to craft it), stand in front of the wild boar and the hunt begins automatically!

You just have to place it where you want and sow fruits or plants that you have in your inventory. If you have any other issues, don't hesitate to ask.

- For the shark, you need to make yourself a wooden fishing rod and go fishing on the third island by the swamp. You have to be very patient; it doesn't work on the first try.

You go to "menu" "plan" "special plans" and you select the circle "cultivable land parcel," you manufacture it and place it somewhere, and then you approach and choose "plant." You pick something you want to plant and there you go.
