Hello, I recently purchased a classic gray Nokia N95 (not the black N95 8GB) and I would like to know the storage capacity for music, as I have the impression that it doesn't store much (160 MB) and if that's the case, how much can I extend my memory card (with a future purchase)?
Thank you
Thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hi
The initial memory is indeed 160 MB, which is low. But the N95 has a microSD slot to expand its memory. I put a 4GB microSD card (a Sandisk) in mine and it works very well. My card is a high-capacity card (SDHC, the evolution of the SD format) that is not recognized in some "old" devices, but that’s not a problem for the N95. And Sandisk provides an SDHC card reader with the microSD card for transfers to other PCs.
The memory on the N95 is not compartmentalized; it is shared with all functions. You can put whatever you want on it. So if you want to put 160 MB of music, you are free to do so, but then there will be less space for contacts, SMS, and other emails or the maps from the GPS module. -
OK, thanks! Where did you buy this 4GB card, in a store or on eBay (what price did you pay)?
Thank you. -
I bought it in store. The card was 55 euros. I don't know if the price has dropped since, but it was roughly the price of 4 1GB cards, so it seemed reasonable to me.

I also bought a gray phone, and the back is purple with 8GB of capacity, just like the black ones.

Hello, I think you must have allocated your photo/video memory or something else to your phone's memory. You should check in your photo settings if the memory used is that of the phone or the card. Transfer your photos to the card to free up space on your phone for messages. Similarly, you can assign the card's memory for your messages; otherwise, they will be limited to the phone's memory. Generally, you go to one of the apps and look in the settings.

Salut tout le monde, s'il vous plaît, je n'arrive pas à lire la carte micro SD sur mon portable N95 classique, aidez-moi s'il vous plaît.
-
s'il vous plaît, comment insérer la carte SD sur le N95 classique ? merci
<translation> Please, how do I insert the SD card into the classic N95? Thank you. </translation> -
You can get them from 256 MB up to 2 GB, and that's already pretty good!!! It shouldn't be too expensive, around 16 or 17 euros for the 2-gigabyte micro SD card (with the SD adapter)!!

It doesn't seem possible for me to specify which memory to use on the N95. The device seems to choose automatically, except during import or installation, in which case the device asks for the destination.
In any case, I can't find a function to choose the memory allocation. That would be useful and might be present on the N95 8GB. -
Hello
I put a 4 GB card in my Nokia N95 and since then I've only had problems.
It freezes from time to time, it shows me "corrupted memory card," and I have to remove it and put it back in every time I turn off the phone or when it freezes so that it adds the music and photos back.
The bottom line is that everything I had on it—music, ringtones, videos, and photos—is gone except for 6 photos. I haven't formatted it because I would like to know if there is a way to recover all that.
Thank you. -
There is an update for the Nokia N95 (V13.0.003) that allows for the management of cards up to 8GB.
To check the version of your Nokia, you need to dial *#0000#.
The software is directly downloadable from the Nokia website. I will soon try an 8GB card. -

A priori no. I bought an 8 GB Micro SD HC from Scandisk and everything works fine.
See you soon +++-

Hello everyone, I also have an N95, the first one, no issues at all. For a phone like mine, 8GB is too much, max 4 or even 2. After the memory full bugs, hold down the menu button and close the open apps, and it should be a bit better. I have a question that will concern everyone. Can we use the N95 as storage for PS3 updates? Be careful... it’s going to heat up. Thanks.

My Nokia N95's microphone isn't working anymore, I have to use the speakerphone to communicate!!
-
I realized that all people with a Nokia N95 don't have the same firmware version. I have version: 30.0.015 and no problem.
Others have earlier versions and it doesn't always work... all I know is that the update is tricky because you have to be careful with your data; you can end up with malfunctions while trying to fix issues.
Oh yes, you need to do the updates gradually (from v10 to v11 to v12, not from v10 to v20 because that's where there are significant risks).
Alright, bye! -
Exactly.
Phones purchased without contracts (outside of operator bundles) are easier to update. For my part, I have an N95 from Orange. I was "forced" to debrand it (remove the operator code) to install the latest firmware (and at the same time regain functionalities that had been removed, such as internet calling).
If I remember correctly, the Orange operator firmware was still at version 13 when the official firmware 30 was released.

Several reasons are possible:
- Orange has made version 30 available since the time I flashed mine
- Your N95 was part of an Orange pack and the seller unbranded it (the small Orange logo on the back doesn't mean anything regarding whether it's still under operator pack or not, the proof being mine which is unbranded and on which I haven't bothered to erase the logo)
As of the latest news (which dates back to December 2008), the Orange pack N95s still do not have the ability to make internet calls (VOIP). A simple way to check is to simply dial a number and press options. If "internet call" is offered, it is either an unbranded phone (a phone that has had the operator customization removed), or a phone outside the pack.

Sure, thanks for getting back to me
I've already taken a look at this site but I don't understand anything
Can you explain it to me in a nutshell? -
-
Hello,
regarding the question THAT ARISES; yes, you can use an 8GB card on a Nokia. You need to go to the nearest retailer to your home (check the Nokia website). For me, it's FNAC and the small 8GB card works very well....
Good luck! -
Oh dear, I was just about to reply to the person talking about problems with their memory card and the issue with their sound when I call with the microphone that no longer works...
And then a woman comes at me!!! What’s more, she even mentions her age, which I don't see the relevance of in this forum.
Anyway!!! Do you think it's too hard for me? And that I don't know how to write? I'll prove you wrong right now.
Earlier, I was in a hurry, so I wrote like I do in texts; what's the problem? I don't like being looked down upon, especially since you don't know my age either, so if we can avoid responses like that, it's all the better, thank you.
If there are any people out there who are in my shoes (Nokia N95 brown, just to clarify), please be sure to respond.
Translation: "If there are any of you who are in my situation, thank you for responding" and yes, I can write in different ways, pff. -
Hello everyone!
I have a "standard" brown SFR Nokia N95 from January 2009.
I couldn't update it because I had the firmware "SFR v 30.0.015".
I had to do a "debranding" which was quite simple to do... for me (and it took 30 minutes).
I can now update my phone normally and I've moved to version v 31.0.017 and my phone no longer has any SFR applications or logos (before when I turned it off, the SFR 3G+ image would display and it doesn't anymore).
I recommend doing it ;)
(but be careful, if you have doubts, don't do it)
For info on "debranding":
