Hello everyone;
Help, when I start my PC instead of my wallpaper, I have a nice blank page that says: ACTIVE DESKTOP RECOVERY.
When I click on the recovery, I get an error that says:
Error occurred in the script
line: 65
character: 1
error: this object does not support this action
code: 0
URL: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/parents/Application%20Data/Microsoft/Internet%20Explorer/Desktop.htt
What should I do??
Thanks for your responses.

Hi!
I just fixed the problem!
I hope it won't be temporary! So if you have another solution, don't hesitate!
On the desktop, right-click then properties.
Select the Desktop tab and then at the bottom left Desktop Personalization.
Then select the Web tab.
There uncheck all files.
There you go, click ok and the wallpaper should come back!
I hope it worked for you!
See you soon. -
Hello everyone, here is my solution to your problem: 1) On the desktop, you need to right-click and go to "reorganize icons by"; 2) lock web elements on the desktop. That's the answer, and it works for me. Good luck to everyone!

Hello,
I have the same problem but I have tried everything and nothing works, active desktop is still there and when I try to reactivate it I always get error 65 url 0 ..........20%.........
I have clicked right 1. properties 2. desktop 3. customize desktop but nothing.
It is not possible to select another image in the background because it is disabled, as well as the browse button.
One solution that was suggested to me that recovers the old wallpaper and removes active desktop is: start cmd regedit
H Key-current-user/software/microsoft/internet explorer/desktop/ ....mode/component and change the value from 0 to 272. But I still can't access browse and background under the desktop tab to change the wallpaper.
I would like to point out that this happened to me when downloading games, it's when I removed my USB drive that this annoying desktop appeared, I also want to say that my Outlook configuration has completely changed and I've lost a lot of my email addresses. Thank you for reading and sorry for the length of the text.
Good evening.

Hello,
I have a solution that works on some computers but not on others.
Maybe it will help you or maybe not.
Go to the "Task Manager"
---> (press Alt + Ctrl + Delete) click Task Manager
Go to the Processes tab
End the process Explorer.exe
/!\ do not confuse with iexplorer.exe
The display will be blank (no icons, don't panic, it's normal)
---> (press Alt + Ctrl + Delete again) click Task Manager
In the Applications tab, click on the new task button
A window opens, type "explorer.exe" then click ok
Normally your wallpaper and icons will reappear for some...
Stay strong.

Hello everyone, having downloaded a screensaver two weeks ago, I caught a virus. Following that, I did what was necessary and managed to eradicate the problem, but now every time I start my computer, Active Desktop is displayed and asks me to reactivate it, which I do every time, but it doesn't help, it always comes back.
I right-click, properties, choose desktop background, and OK, it works, but when I log back in, it goes back to how it was. I think it's necessary to go into the registry, but I must admit that just the name makes me freeze, as I'm very afraid of making a mistake and rendering my computer "dead".
So if someone kind and very knowledgeable on the manipulation to perform to restore everything to how it was could help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
I would like to point out that I have read all these messages written on the site regarding this problem, but some answers honestly seem too vague, often confusing, so I don't quite follow.
I have Windows XP, IE, and Avast.
Thank you in advance for a concrete and helpful reply, as I admit that every time I open it, this red rectangle annoys me, lol.

But today the problem has come back!

Hello, I've had the same problem since I downloaded IE8, which I just uninstalled. It was indicated that there were script pages from Internet Explorer that wouldn't open. I work with Firefox, so I uninstalled IE8 this morning, I hope I won't have this problem anymore. Hi everyone.
