PB steam : Impossible de charger la bibliothèque steam.dll

Hello everyone,
I think I have a simple problem. When I launch steam.exe, I get this message: Steam.exe (main exception) Unable to load library steam.dll ??!!
I had left the installation of WoW overnight...
When I woke up, I found the screen was all black and I could only see the mouse, so I forcefully restarted the PC (with VISTA :S :@). I relaunched the WoW installation and then I went to school. I came back to find the installation of WoW was finished, I tried to access Steam and there I felt like killing myself :D

It's been 6 days since I couldn't play CSS :)
If this keeps up, I feel like I'm going to shoot myself :)

Thanks in advance (I hope)
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

    Read this carefully:

If you have a pirated version of Windows, it is impossible for it to work in that case, you need to buy (a version of) Windows XP.

If you have Linux, it is impossible for it to work.

Your firewall may be the cause of the problem; it may be blocking the program.

Try to install the .dll file; it may have been deleted.

A system restore may solve your problem.

There, I believe I've said everything!!!!

He says that Unable to load filesystem_steam.dll is not there (but it actually is, even if you delete it and restart Steam) it does the same thing, it's the Steam updates that messed up everything. DjuSt-

      YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS RESOLUUUUUUUUU YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
So yes, indeed, when you are in your folder called C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\youraccount\counter-strike source\bin in the BIN folder there are a lot of DLL files, delete them ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL without exception (of course, turn off Steam first or it won't take effect).
Once everything is deleted, open Steam (and it's all good now, we can play) FIXED thank you ;) o/ |Justiciere

So, I looked into it for you, and it seems that it's "peer guardian" that's blocking Steam... However, I don't know where it is in the system or how to remove it. Remember my last message saying it was coming from the router... I managed to fix it by formatting my PC...

    Here’s a little advice:

    1: Disable your antivirus
2: Check your firewall; it may be blocking Steam
3: clientregistry.blob can also block Steam! Delete it and see if it works
4: It might be your router settings blocking Steam
5: The peer guardian software can block Steam (but I don't know how to find it in the system or how to remove it...)
6: Unfortunately, if you're really fed up, format your PC, and it should work

    Hope this helps you....

It's simple: Steam has a straightforward method; it asks the user to download a "light installer" that includes only the bare minimum. Once this installer is launched, it will seek everything it needs (including .dll files) by doing an "update."

That's why if your firewall prevents Steam from connecting to the internet, you will receive completely bizarre messages like: unable to load steam.dll. But in fact, it should display: unable to download steam.dll!

    So, the technique is simple:
-> Check that the Windows firewall is not blocking the program (usually it's fine by default).
-> Make sure that your firewall (ZoneAlarm, ...) is not blocking anything either.
-> Check that your router's firewall is not blocking anything either => And it's often the one that blocks everything.

For example, with a Livebox, you need to customize the security level of your firewall and check the box "Accept incoming connections." Sure, in terms of security, it's not great. But it's Orange!

For other routers/boxes, be sure to do the same.

-> Verify that the ports are open & available if you have a router/box again. The UDP & TCP ports

Once again, I take the Livebox as an example; you need to go into Advanced Settings > NAT/PAT, then click on add a line. Set for the application Steam games, the user as the name of your PC and click save!

For others, it's simple, the ports are:

Protocol External Port Internal Port Select

    TCP 27030 <-> 27039 (external) 27030 (internal)
    UDP 1200 <-> 1200 (external) 1200 (internal)
    UDP 27000 <-> 27015 (external) 27000 (internal)

    That's all!

Hi, sincerely thank you very much for the response you left on the internet
I could no longer log into CS and it was annoying me, but in fact I had forgotten that I had changed my antivirus, thank you very much.

Here you go, hello everyone, I have the same problem and I followed all your tips. I tried with steamUI.dll, I placed it in the steam folder and it still doesn't work!
Otherwise yes, I had the tip of deleting clientregistry.blob.
Maybe it's because I'm on a laptop since before on my old desktop PC, the game worked perfectly.
So there you go, thank you for helping me
PS: my PC is a Packard Bell version 2000 XP Home, not pirated... there you go, I hope this might help you, thanks ++

I found out where the problem comes from; it comes from the Livebox, which has too high a security level. So set it to medium security, and miraculously, Steam will work! To change the security settings, go to Google and type in Livebox Inventel or Sagem or any brand you have! Then log in, go to security, your username is admin and your password is also admin, and then change the security of your Livebox to medium, not minimum! That's it, then Steam will work, just like with other games.

See you later and have fun!

I solved the problem; I had the same error message!
    (It's frustrating, isn't it?)
I fixed my issue by formatting (I don't beat around the bush, lol)
once the formatting was done, I downloaded Steam and yay, it finally works!
    (goodbye pretty error message, lol)
    I hope this helps you.

Here, I also have this problem but I am on a public computer so I can't really change the firewall of the computer I think or the ports, routers, etc...
Do you have another solution or do you know how I could access the system to change the firewall or the ports?? (by the way, I have tried all the other proposed solutions)
Otherwise, what is the Livebox and Peer Guardian?
    Where can we find them?

The same problem, Windows Vista on a laptop, NON-pirated version, I just bought the Orange Box for HL². And I keep getting the same error message. I downloaded the 2 DLL files, steam.dll and steamUI.dll, as you mentioned, and nothing happens, I still get the same error message... T_T

    Hello

    I have the same issue
but I might have the solution to your problem...
go to this site: https://www.fichier-dll.fr/steam.dll,4024 (copy it into your browser)
click on download, and the PC will download a missing file for Steam (save it instead of executing)
copy it into the Steam folder
and if it still gives you this: steam.exe (main exception) unable to load library steamUI.dll
let me know on the forum
there you go, I hope this helps you...

    Hello

    1. Here’s another method: click on the link, then click on download (save it in a folder in My Documents for example) and then copy it into the Steam folder
if you ever get: steam.exe (main exception) unable to load steamUI.dll here are the details:

    2. Click on this link: https://www.fichier-dll.fr/steamui.dll,4025, then click on download (save it in a folder, then copy it into the folder, and if you still get the same error message, then...

    3. I would like to know your PC's specifications (Vista, XP, XP2000...) and also if your version is pirated, if yes you will need to purchase a version of Windows

there you go (it's a bit long) lol

    Hello

Have you had the trick of deleting this file?: clientregistry.blob
If not, you can find this file and delete it by accessing the Steam folder

    That's all...

    Hello everyone

FINALLY I WAS ABLE TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM
Let me explain: actually, I had a version of Windows XP (pirated)
and today (that's right) I decided to buy a version of Windows XP (home)
after the setup I tried to install AND THERE
    ABSOLUTE HAPPINESS IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF YOU HAVE A PIRATED VERSION OF WINDOWS
you need to buy a non-pirated version of Windows

    Hello,

I have the same problem, initially I was missing the steam.dll file, I downloaded it, then the steamUI.dll, but I keep getting the same message. I have a non-pirated Windows XP, and I have an Acer TravelMate 5720 laptop. Knowing that I had already managed to install it on this machine when I had a pirated version of Windows back then...
If you know what else to do, I would be very grateful.
    Thank you in advance.
