Hello,
I just bought a HP PAVILION DV6000 laptop with Vista.
The problem is that I plug in the battery but it doesn't charge; it says plugged in, not charging.
I saw on a forum that someone had the same issue and that they updated the BIOS and now it works fine;
I've never done a BIOS update and I don't want to mess up my laptop.
I also don't want to return my laptop as it took me 2 months to receive it instead of one week.
Thank you for your tips and other advice.

It's exactly the same as you, Kawamidoo, my computer is a Compaq Presario, I think
but I think I'm going to go to a technician to ask what the problem is. Personally, I think it's the battery, but we'll have to see... Or I will call the Compaq service.

It's not working, their thing of plugging and unplugging, removing the battery and all that, I feel like there's nothing to be done.
Check your power cables or if they are not too old, the issue may come from the battery that no longer charges and doesn't hold a charge anymore (it happened to me, I changed my battery) and since then it's been working perfectly.
