Question

Hello, my Samsung fell in water a week ago and it hasn't been working since. Can I recover it by having it repaired, for example? Thank you.

Don't be pessimistic!! My phone fell into a toilet during a party xD. I thought it was dead, it wouldn’t turn on. When I got home, I left it on a radiator, with the battery and SIM card separated from the phone. The next morning, it still didn't work. At that point, I had lost all hope. That evening, I tried again and there it was: A MIRACLE! The phone worked again, no one would have guessed it had fallen into water. This happened to several of my friends, and all their phones started working again. So, if it happens to you, don’t panic... remove the battery and SIM card and let it dry! There’s a good chance your phone will come back to life ;)

PS: Do not try to turn it on when it's wet, you would be heading straight for disaster...

My phone went in the washing machine while it was on. I realized it 10 minutes later and took it out. It worked very slightly with bugs on the screen. I went to my room and removed the battery and SIM card and put them in a paper towel overnight. The next day, it still didn't work. I went to the bathroom and tried to dry it with a hairdryer. After that, I tried to charge it; only the power button lights up. When I unplug it from the battery, it lights up to a presentation page, then stays like that with regular bugs on the screen. I later tried putting it on a heating radiator on a towel, still the same results with the charger. I really need your help; I can't tell my family. It's a phone I got for Christmas, and I'm afraid they will be upset if I tell them. Please help me, do you know if there’s still a chance? It's been 5 days. Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't think it's going to work like that, but let it dry and tell customer service there were some bugs, just don't mention that it fell in water, that way you'll get a new one :)

I'm sorry, but I have bad news for you (unless your mobile is insured).

I dove into a pool with my phone. I let it dry for a few days. It worked again, but the screen was dead. I still managed to use it for a little while. But shortly after, it died. Sniff... If you want to get it repaired, there's no point. The manufacturer will return your phone with a nice note: "oxidized system, device irreparable." So you can go buy yourself a new one... Note that with insurance, they will replace it for you.

Always try to bring it back where you bought it by saying that it doesn't work anymore or by making something up. But normally they will see signs of oxidation when they open it... But since you got it not long ago, give it a try anyway.

Hello, my laptop swallowed rainwater and stopped working for 15 days. After that, I got advice that saved my laptop:
open it and take out the battery and dry it well on the copper side with a cloth
dry it with a hair dryer if you have one
after that, place the laptop on a very heavy blanket or 2 or 3 blankets and leave the laptop under those blankets for at least 2 days

This morning, my phone (Samsung J600) fell into water
A fountain extension (water a bit dirty, you know)...
It had to be 10 seconds at a depth of 10 cm.

At the moment, I panicked, I blew into it, removed the battery
I put it back and tried to turn it on at least 20 times...

So, I went home 4 hours later. It had a lot of fog
on the screen... I dried it for (6) cm at maximum power with the hairdryer.

Well, nothing, it won't turn on anymore! I shook it A LOT!

It's been 1.30 hours since then. But I still want to die
This summer I fell into the sea with my phone in my pocket (another one)
I came home, used the hairdryer, and 45 minutes later it worked again!

I'm desperate! Now it is next to me in 4 pieces:

- Battery
- SIM
- Back cover
- Remainder of the phone

It's Friday. Will I be able to go on Monday to where I bought it (Giant)
without my parents, but with the papers & everything, can they do something?
I didn't take the warranty option (full...) but it has at least one year! (2 months)

There you go, I'm stressing. It's just a phone, but still =S

Me, my Samsung, I didn't drop it in water, I never did anything special with it and then all of a sudden some keys stopped working, I took it back to the store, and they sent it to the repair shop, I went to pick it up yesterday and they told me that it had a problem with oxidation so they couldn't repair it because it's not covered by warranty and if I ever get it repaired it's going to be expensive, so I'm going to call Samsung to complain, because according to what the store told me, this happens often!! my u600 fell into the toilet on Sunday morning..
It only turned on with the flash and about 30 hours later, the screen lit up when I plugged in my USB cable..
But since then, everything works except for the keys 3, 6, and 9.
Not very cool, so.. Do you have any idea what I can do?!

Hello everyone like a beta, in the bathroom, the Samsung Player One in hand (I've had it for 6 months...), suddenly I pass by the height of the toilet and there it is a disaster: the phone slips from my hand and falls into the toilet lol, well it’s not funny when I think about it. So total panic, I grab the phone (it was at my place and the toilet was clean) in my hand immediately and shake it in all directions then I take a towel and wipe it everywhere but there was nothing on the screen. I remove the battery and the SIM + and I dry everything again with the towel + hairdryer... I wait a few minutes and try to turn it on again, I feel it vibrating but nothing on the screen. I tell myself "it's dead now", I call Orange to see if it can be repaired, of course they kindly tell me no, basically "it's my fault" so the costs are on me, plus I still have to stay 18 months under a locked plan... anyway, I see myself already forced to buy a used phone. Not totally discouraged, I unscrew the tiny screws, and without completely disassembling it, I take a quick look inside and re-dry with the hairdryer, I also had to use a cotton swab inside under the lens of the camera because there were a lot of tiny bubbles. After all that, I try again but the same, then I try plugging it in with the charger and there miracle I see the charging mode on the screen so I take the opportunity to turn it on and it turns on, so cool. Outcome, for now everything works apart from the lock button on the side so I set up the automatic screen lock and I unlock it with the touch button, and also the camera button that no longer works the one that takes the photo (still on the side). Well with time, you never know.... Then it turns on correctly without me having to plug in the charger (because the first two times it was systematically that). It's working again. Let's hope it continues... I’ve already been lucky. Good luck to those who find themselves in this situation because it's really a silly thing. Well sometimes, wait a few hours/days drying it but without the battery, that's my advice, preferably use the hairdryer and be careful if you dismantle it If the screen is ruined, then I can't help you except to say: buy yourself a new phone or take back your old one (if you still have it), because it's hard to do something when the screen is flooded, well you never know after drying for several days...
