reception of anonymous sms from 38138

Question

Hello,

for over six months I have been receiving anonymous text messages full of insults with very specific details about my life or my appearance coming from 38138 every time. I have filed two complaints and let me tell you that it is useless until you have actually been attacked.
I can't find a solution to locate the sender of all this because I have also received emails from fake addresses. Furthermore, I changed my phone number and the person managed to find me even though I only gave my number to 5 trusted people. I don't know what to do anymore; can someone help me?
It's really a nightmare, thanks in advance.

Personally, I received a SMS from 3 81 38 on September 23, 2009, thinking it was advertising, spam or some scam, I replied with a Stop.
3 81 38 immediately responded with:
NS. At your request, you will no longer receive any messages from our service. No charge for the service.

On January 7, 2010, the same SMS arrived:
Identifier 0453xxxx
Code: 98xx
Our services are available to you 24/7.

Thanks to lee_zah, whom I thank in passing, I studied this SMS and the corresponding site www.savemysms.fr/

I didn't detect anything unusual, everything is clear, I even tackled the T&Cs (Terms and Conditions), things that nobody ever reads anyway, myself included, perhaps to my detriment.

So on January 7, I replied Stop again and received the same message
NS. At your request, blah blah blah.

And I understood that the SMS I received came from an error of a user registered on this site using a phone number (close to mine) for their validations. (or something like that).

On my Orange mobile phone bill, on the date of December 3, 2007, 90 SMS were charged between 9:39 AM and 10:27 AM while I was traveling by car in a rural area that is not covered by mobile phone service. It states "sending SMS 38138"
I have just reported this to Orange. It seems that this number is being used by a hacker.

as for me, I received 5 texts during the night with a small amount for the first SMS and then large amounts (€1500). Since it was 3 AM, I preferred to play it safe by blocking my credit card. I'm not sure if it's spam or if it's really credit card fraud, but what I do know is that two days before, I received a fake email from PayPal asking for all my information (name, address, email, phone number, credit card...). I don't know if what happened to me 10 days ago is related to this fake email, but having blocked my card right away, I haven't had any withdrawals from my account to date.

I also received a text message from the number 38653 with the same issue as salokin or jimmy. I sent "stop" and another number (38005) replied to me: "ATOS WORLDLINE at your request you will no longer receive messages from our service."

I'm a bit late, but I also received several texts from 38653 after responding to the fake PayPal email asking me to confirm my personal information due to attempted fraud on my account, but obviously, it was that email that was fraudulent. So at that moment, someone gained access to my card numbers and made a purchase of over 1000 euros, but fortunately, there is a fraud service for credit cards (at least for my bank) they called me to ask if I was aware of a purchase of that amount since it wasn't me, they immediately blocked my card. Now I'm waiting to see what happens, but according to the fraud service, the withdrawal won't take place, or if it does, I will be reimbursed.

I myself suffered the same damage from 38653 with purchase confirmations for very large amounts. The police refuse to file my complaint, but my bank has identified these fraudulent transactions and has blocked my card.

If your phone allows it (smartphone), you can install a free antivirus like Kaspersky. It allows you to blacklist numbers to censor. (By the way, some phones have this feature directly.)
Moreover, your phone may really be infected and send your number and information secretly. The antivirus will tell you.
In any case, Bluetooth should always be disabled, as it is a virus pathway, especially in public places (transport, etc.).

Aside from that, 38138 is just an SMS routing number; many companies use it for regular communications (appointment confirmations, for example).

Regarding giving out banking information or passwords via email or SMS (as mentioned in the replies), it sends chills down my spine and leaves me speechless: I honestly thought everyone knew by now that you should NEVER do that! It is ALWAYS a scam, OBVIOUSLY. If you meet someone on the street who says, "Give me your keys, I am your locksmith," would you give them to him???

I sent STOP to this number and I received an SMS from Atos Wordline telling me they would stop sending me SMS and the number that appeared this time was different, it was 38600   I hope that I will not be charged for anything with the 4 SMS I received !!!!
