SMTP configuration with SFR Solved

Question

Good evening,

I created an SFR email address (ADSL subscription). I use Outlook 2003 or Outlook Express. I followed SFR's configuration procedure for Outlook step by step. I can receive emails but cannot send them.

I spent the day with SFR technical support. Nothing worked, sending failed. I think it might be due to the SMTP port. Does anyone know the SMTP port number for SFR? For example: Orange and Tele2: 587.

I can send emails without any problem from my SFR mailbox using FoxMail with the SMTP server mail.sfr.net and port 25.
But I am unable to receive any... Could you give me the solution?

Try: smtp-auth.sfr.fr

However, I have a problem receiving my emails. I tried for POP3: POP.sfr.fr and I'm not receiving my messages.
If anyone knows the solution.

Hello,

I finally found the solution to set up Windows Mail.

Pop.sfr.fr
Smtp-auth.sfr.fr

In SFR Messaging, you need to click on "Preferences"
Then click on "Pop"
Activate the POP protocol for messages
Go to "To automatically configure the email client click here" and just follow the instructions.

New SFR customers, old Tele2...

For an Outlook 5 and 6 setup, go to the "server" tab pop.sfr.fr smtp.tele2.fr account name :...@sfr.fr password :******

My server requires authentication... In the settings, you set the same ones as those of Tele2.

In the "connection" tab = local network (for those with Ethernet)

Then the "advanced" tab = outgoing (smtp) |587| =} from Tele2

I think I've explained everything, I spent a long time figuring this out!

Hello everyone.
So personally, I've followed the instructions well - thanks again for the info - ... but it's not working.
Let me explain, I’m a former Tele 2 switching to SFR - forced to.
I'm on Mac OSX 10.5.6 and I want to set up a mailbox on Mail - anyway, like everyone else :)
So here are the details I've entered:

Account type: POP
Description: SFR
Email address: xxxxxx@sfr.fr
Full name: xxxxxx@sfr.fr

Incoming server: pop.sfr.fr
Username: xxxxxx@sfr.fr
Password: xxxxxxxx

Outgoing server (SMTP): smtp.sfr.fr

I think I'm doing everything right but ... I'm not receiving any messages!

PS: I'm abroad, so I'm on a different internet connection, but well ... I don’t think that should matter ...

Thank you for all this information, especially the port, the name of the SMTP server, and the format of the identifier, for which I would never have thought to put anything else if I had only relied on SFR's support documentation. Now, everything works thanks to you :-)

Activate the POP protocol on the SFR mail server with a password, the same as when it was created.

Configure your email account on your PC,
pop.sfr.fr
smtp-auth.sfr.fr
Username: xxxxxx@sfr.fr
password: xxxxxxxx
SMTP Port 587
Check the box "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
Select "Use the same settings as my incoming mail server."

That's it

Hello everyone,

I am with SFR formerly Club and I couldn't send my emails through Windows Mail.

If you are in the same situation, I recommend WOLF's solution: set the port to 587 and it works like a charm.

If someone has a problem transferring their SFR emails to Outlook:

My wife just created an address on SFR. We are originally Neuf customers. Be careful with the settings on Outlook:
pop.neuf.fr
smtp.sfr.fr

There you go, if this can help others.
