remove the overclock from a PC Solved

Question

Hello, I want to remove the overclock from my PC, as it seems to be what prevents a game from starting.
Since I got this PC (set up by a friend), I hear a voice at startup that says "error due to processor overclocking," but it has never caused me any issues.
While searching through different forums, I found other users with this problem with the same game.
I found a lot of topics on how to overclock your PC, but none on how to revert to a "stable" configuration.
Is there anyone who can help me?

You need to go into the BIOS of your PC, then into "CPU configuration" And set the "FSB" to 166 (MHz) --  Contributor CCM. Hardware/Windows expert

To remove the overclocking, you need to reset the values to default in the BIOS, or if you don't know how to do it, remove the battery or perform a Clear CMOS.

Good evening,

It all depends on the overclocking system used on the PC. I can modify the frequency in the BIOS, so it's very straightforward, but sometimes you have to use the clusters on the motherboard or "little buttons" located on the motherboard that allow you to change the frequency... If they're clusters, you need to know which ones to modify...

Most of the time, press the DEL key or F1 at boot of the PC, it should be mentioned on the screen at boot...  good luck --  It may be stupid, but only stupidity is stupid, said F. Gump (vote for XP)

Well, I just went to check in the BIOS, the FSB is indeed at 166, but below, there's the CPU Frequency Multiple, which is at 12.5. Isn't that a bit high for multiplication?

166 x 12.5 = 2075 ==> 2.08ghz... So we will need to find the correct multiplier to get back to the right frequency...
