Bonjour,
could someone please enlighten me?
Let me explain:
I have a Kenwood KDC-W311A CD player and when I put a CD in, the player got stuck and now it displays "protect". A friend who's an electrician checked it and it's not the wires or the speakers. Resetting it doesn't work either. I would like to know what to do??
Moreover, it was given to me and the person got it in Talence, and I am from Dordogne, so I can't change it elsewhere?? The warranty is from Leclerc, but can I change it at Feu Vert since they have this brand and I don't have the chance to go to BORDEAUX?
Thank you in advance for your responses.

Hello, I'm bumping this old topic because I have exactly the same issue as the people above, namely that I have a Kenwood KDC-414U unit and the demonstration mode won't turn off despite following the instructions in the manual. Any solution? Thanks.

Here is what customer service replied to me, and it works perfectly both to exit demo mode and to ensure the car radio retains the memories.
"To remove demo mode from your Kenwood car radio, you need to:
With the SRC button, go to "standby," then press and hold the "menu" button (located below the front panel removal button) for 2 or 3 seconds. Now that you are in the settings menu, use the joystick to scroll down until you find the "demo on" mode, which you will disable by pressing and holding the center of the joystick for 2 or 3 seconds to switch demo mode to "OFF."
To exit the settings menu, press "src."
However, based on your description, your problem is not solely demo mode, as it does not prevent the memory of the settings.
It seems there might be a small wiring error, as our products require a permanent + on the yellow wire (for memories) and a + after contact on the red wire (for turning on/off simultaneously with the ignition).
Sometimes the two wires are crossed (even with factory wiring of the car)." -
Hello,
I also have this device, but I can't get out of the "Demo" menu; all my settings reset to default every time I turn it back on. If anyone has a solution for this problem, I would appreciate it.
Good luck, Romain. -
Hello
See page 33 of the manual for the meaning of the different messages.

Great for your trick, I succeeded on the first try while I had struggled without success with the manual.
