Hello, I hope I’m posting my message in the right forum.

I only have one PC monitor that has 2 inputs at the back (HDMI and VGA).

In recent months the words and icons were displayed correctly on my screen and suddenly, since this Sunday July 19, the display has become abnormal.

Black horizontal stripes suddenly appeared that cover letters, icons. No noise. No smell. The keyboard and mouse work correctly.

I don’t know where to check or uncheck boxes. I am attaching screenshots to better show you.

I don’t know if one of the members has already had this kind of display.

    Hello, the screen is a curved flat screen brand Philips purchased at Darty in 2023. It was new. Ok thank you. I will try your cleaning method. It’s true that the flat screen has been left unused since purchase, without cover and next to wooden slatted windows painted. No air conditioner at my place. The shutters remain open.

    Hello, can you try your screen on another PC? From what you describe, it is possible that it is a problem with pixels for the most serious case. But you can also try changing the cables (VGA and HDMI), or check their connectors, for the VGA cable, check that the pins are straight.

      Ask a loved one to run a test of your screen on their PC. Even connect your screen to a laptop.

      I have this on mine and it’s a virus that Defender has detected.

      You need to avoid clicking on links, even on forums.

      Additionally, high temperatures can cause this as well.

    The PC monitor in question is still there at the beginning of August 2026. It works but the problem of horizontal lines appears at the top of the screen across the full width.

    Unfortunately I only have one VGA cable. I don’t have a portable laptop. And I don’t have a friend or relative who could connect the monitor to their computer or their TV box.

    Now, I connected the monitor to the problem to the TV decoder and the famous horizontal lines still appear at the top of the screen across its full width.

    When I turn on the TV decoder, the horizontal lines are not visible but after one or two hours of the screen being on, the colored horizontal lines appear again. Result, I don’t see the images or text behind the lines. So I prefer to turn off the TV decoder and let the problematic monitor rest. Then I wait for hours before turning the TV decoder on again. And here, the colored horizontal lines are not there but again after 1 or 2 hours of the screen on, the horizontal lines reappear across the full width of the screen. Result, I turn on the TV decoder just to watch a movie or two episodes of TV series, then I have to turn it off.

    The monitor’s warranty has expired. I wrote to Philips France but they refer me to their dealer Darty who is useless; since the warranty is over, simply dropping the screen off at a service center will cost at least 90€ not counting the repair price.

    The TV decoder is connected to the problematic screen via an HDMI cable. No odor, no noise. It’s true that in the surroundings, it is daytime, 35°Celsius.

      It is possible that, in addition to the ambient heat, a lot of dust is hindering proper air circulation around the components of your screen and causing overheating...

      Make sure all the vents on the back cover are free of obstructions and, if necessary after disconnecting everything, remove the cover and using a brush and a can of compressed air, perform a thorough internal cleaning.

      this could come from the screen itself, a diode, pixel fatigue, or even planned obsolescence.

      It should be noted that some screens, TVs, etc. have a limited lifespan due to wear from use (backlight, capacitors, backlight, etc.) or even the screen panel itself.

      In your case, if lines appear after some time, this often looks like fatigue of the panel or backlighting, sometimes aggravated by heat.

      the only and unique way is to test the screen in question.
