Connecting an external hard drive to a PC

I have a HP PC: HP OmniDesk Desktop AI M03-0008nf PC, I connected my external hard drive CRUCIAL 2 TB.

It appears, I can work on it, but after a few minutes it disconnects.

Why?

I am obliged to unplug it and reconnect it for it to reappear in my file explorer - I would like it to stay there permanently.

Thank you.

    Hello,

There isn’t an obvious reason obvious enough other than not more than 2 TB.

Hardware failure of the drive or its connectors and cable.

Power insufficiency of the USB port to which it is connected (try changing it and consider all USB-connected peripherals).

Interception by a security software due to the content.

Corruption of USB controllers and drivers, repair Windows or reinstall it on itself without data loss from a bootable USB installer.

    Hello,

indeed the first thing to suspect would be too much power consumption on the USB port, so try another port first

Is it a hard drive or an SSD?

And there you go, there you go, there you go ....

But alas, how annoying the line spacing is !!
