No internet connection possible

I have two computers: a desktop (recent motherboard and processor) and an old HP laptop, plus an internet connection from Freebox. For several days now, the desktop PC doesn’t connect at all—not via Wi-Fi, not via Ethernet, not using a USB Wi-Fi key, and not by using the phone as a modem. The laptop connects to Wi-Fi but not via Ethernet (or it stays connected only briefly) to the box, but connects via Ethernet through the mobile USB tethering. I contacted Free assistance by phone, who told me that everything was correct (??). Three days ago there was a total outage of the box, new phone line, restoration the next day, restoration the day after, but I still have the same connection problems with the box. I should note that I have a repeater, but I performed Ethernet tests with both connections: box and repeater. Additionally, I have a throughput that seems extremely low for a fiber connection with Wi-Fi 6 via USB TP-Link dongle (57 Mb/s downstream). What surprises me is that this problem occurred at the same time on both PCs. Please enlighten me. Best regards.

Hello,
What does "Une ancienne connexion internet Freebox" mean..??
Does it work or not..?? which Freebox is it..?
Is the synchronization light @ fixed or blinking..?
For the rest, the installation seems quite complicated..!!
-
Thank you for responding
It is not an old Freebox connection but a normal Freebox connection and an old laptop
The Freebox is a Freebox Pop and the indicators (box and repeater) are steady and white
For my part I do not find the installation complicated: 2 computers (a desktop and a laptop) each connected to the internet via a box

Hi, tat
All of this is quite confusing; we should focus on a single issue, for example the desktop PC on Ethernet, what exactly is the problem?
paste here the result of the command ipconfig/all:
ipconfig/all > ipconfig.txt & notepad ipconfig.txt
copy to a USB drive and paste the contents here via a connected machine.
And there you go, there you go, there you are....
But goodness, how tedious the line breaks are!! -
To be clear Desktop Computer: internet does not work either by ethernet or wifi

OK,
The question was to know what the model of the FreeBox is..?
And what is the synchronization/LED like..??
It seems that you are connected by fiber..?
All wireless networks are disconnected... so no connection
It seems that the ethernet connection is recognized "IPv4 Address ....... . . . . . . . . . . . . .: 192.168.1.34" if this is indeed a recalcitrant PC copy..? and not the one of transmission with the Forum..?
And your smartphone, does it connect well to the FreeBox wifi..? and display the WEB..?
-
As I mentioned earlier, the Freebox is a Freebox Pop plus a repeater, and the indicators do not blink and are white.
I do have fiber that was working without problems until the start of the week.
It's indeed a copy of the problematic PC's ipconfig.
The Ethernet connection is recognized but does not show on screen and the internet connection does not work.
All Wi-Fi media are disconnected:
- only the motherboard's Wi-Fi 6 (Realtek) remains; the virtual Wi-Fi is automatically installed by Windows
- When I connect to Wi-Fi it always shows as connected but with "no internet secured"
The smartphone connects well to the box's Wi-Fi, as does the TV, both over Wi-Fi. -

OK,
It seems that your devices are connected to the local network, with an assigned IP... In short you are connected... but this connection does not carry internet (the WEB)
Here are two possible attempts:
-- Disconnect the wall plug for 10 minutes from your Freebox and also the PC...
reconnect the Freebox first... wait for the blinking to end.
Then reconnect your PC... try to see if it works..??-- If it doesn’t work... Try switching the IP config to manual...
To switch to manual mode from DHCP, disable automatic assignment of IP addresses in your device’s or your DHCP server’s network settings.Procedures by operating system
A. Windows 10 / 11
-
Open network settings
- Settings ► Network & Internet ► Ethernet (or Wi‑Fi) ► Change adapter options.
-
Access the card properties
- Right-click on the interface → Properties.
-
Configure IPv4
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) → Properties.
- Check Use the following IP address and fill in:
- IP address: your static address (e.g. 192.168.1.50)
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default gateway: 192.168.1.254
- Check Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the desired DNS servers.
-
DNS servers Domain name resolution 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 (or those of your ISP)
-
Validate
- Click OK → Close → OK.
-
Check
- Open a terminal (
cmd) and typeipconfig /all. The address should appear as Static. If needed, attach a copy here.
- Open a terminal (
There you go, if it still doesn’t work, I’m afraid you’ll need to request the intervention of a Free technician

Okay, thanks. I’ll do all that tomorrow because I started Defender with a full analysis and it still has several hours to go
Where can I find Free’s DNS server?
As for Brupala, I think the local network is functioning normally since I can see the other devices on the network. In Network & Internet settings it shows: "no internet access your device can only access other devices on your local network"
-
For the DNS I found it, thank you
-
On the DNS resolver, your Freebox actually has one thing I’m discovering: a local IPv6 address (ULA) fd0f:ee:b0::1. However, this local network fd0f:ee:b0::/64 doesn’t seem to be announced by the box because the PC doesn’t get an address on it, but that’s not a problem if the box can route on itself. In short, the DNS resolver is the box and occasionally there doesn’t seem to be a connectivity issue. What exact errors do you observe?

For Jeannets
The first attempt yielded nothing and I’m stuck on the second Settings ► Network & Internet ► Ethernet (or Wi‑Fi) no problem but I don’t have Change adapter options. (I’m on Windows 11)
Should I do it under "hardware properties"?
For brupala
Can you clarify what you mean by "specific errors" I don’t have any error message except the one mentioned earlier concerning the network connection but not to the internet.
One thing that surprises me is that I also can’t connect to the internet with a USB Wi‑Fi dongle from TP‑Link or with my smartphone, whereas I can do it on my old HP laptop
-
I don’t think it’s coming from Windows because I had cloned the partitions of my drive before the Wi-Fi connection disappeared, and when I boot from the clone the problem remains the same
Couldn’t it come from the BIOS?
I’m still going to try to see if I can reinstall Windows without data loss

Here is a guide/tutorial on configuring IP settings, especially for switching to Manual, also known as static IP...
https://www.malekal.com/configurer-une-adresse-ip-sous-windows-11-10-dhcp-ou-ip-fixe/
From this reference line
"Configure a manual IP address (static IP) in Windows 11/10"
Note: in the case of FREE, the gateway IP address is 192.168.1.254 and not 192.168.1.1
-
Hello,
if there are Freebox devices at 192.168.1.1 by default, but hey, you can put whatever you want as a private IP.
But anyway, assigning static IP addresses is never a good idea, unless you have a specific objective or a quick and provisional test network.
If you really want a reliable address that doesn’t change, you configure a static DHCP lease.
Anyway, in the shown ipconfig, you can clearly see that DHCP is working normally and IPv6 auto-configuration (SLAAC) as well.
