in Word, the toolbar characters have suddenly shrunk and I would like a larger character to read more easily

    Good evening,

    To restore the normal character size of the toolbar in Word, press Ctrl + F1 to show or hide the ribbon, then adjust the window size or restart the application.

    The toolbar ?? If it really is the toolbar, your Office is very old because now we have a ribbon. What is your version?
