Open Office.calc or OpenDocument?

I have 3 files that were created with Open Office Calc. I found them in "OpenDocument" and I am denied access. Why is that and what can I do to recover them? I deleted the old version of Open Office 4, and I just reinstalled the latest version. BUT I still can't open these 3 files, even using the new Open Office Calc.

    Hello,

    The documents created with Writer (.odt), Calc (.ods), Impress (.odp), Draw (.odg) and Base (.odb) are documents in ODF (OpenDocument Format).

    Redefine Calc as the default program for Calc documents.
