Canon Pixma MG3650 error 5B02

Hello,
like many users on the forum, I am facing the 5B02 ink absorber error on the MG3650 printer.
After downloading several utilities (ST5103 and the service Tool V4718) found on the forums, and successfully putting the printer into service mode, I still get error code 006 when using the utilities which do recognize the printer since they display the serial number in their status bar.
Does anyone have any idea on how to at least temporarily unblock the printer while waiting for the ink absorbers to be cleaned?
Thank you

Good evening,
To temporarily unlock your Canon Pixma MG3650 printer in case of error 5B02, try resetting the waste ink counter by following the specific instructions for your model, which are often available in the manual or on specialized forums.

Hello,
thank you for your response which points to a link with a procedure to reset the used ink counter of the printer.
It wouldn't be necessary to use a utility like ST5103 or Service Tool V4718 as mentioned in most forum posts?
However, the Canon MG 3650 model does not have a Menu button to follow the procedure indicated in the link https://umvie.com/erreur-canon-5b02-comment-resoudre-ce-probleme-courant/
Perhaps there's another method to reset the used ink counters?
hi
error code 5B02 means the ink absorber is full
error code 006 means the printer is not in "service" mode
excerpt from what I read:
What does error code 006 mean on the Canon service tool?
Error code 006.
This error generally indicates that the printer is not in service mode. Try restarting the printer, then the computer, and reset the waste ink counters. You can also try changing the USB port and cable. Nov 21, 2023
also check this page for error 006 click here
/!\ the page states to use the V3400 utility to reset the ink counter, but your printer does not appear in the list!

Thank you for your reply.
Indeed, code 006 indicates that the service mode is not activated, but also that the utility is not compatible with the printer, or there is a problem with the USB cable/port.
I tried everything for the service mode; the only solution to stop getting the error code on the panel (orange alarm light blinking) is to press the Stop and Cancel buttons three times: at that moment, the printer makes a noise with the carriage, and then all the lights are OK (alarm is off).
It is only in this configuration that the different versions of the utility (ST1050, ST5103, ST4718) recognize the serial number of the printer connected via USB (cable and port have also been changed multiple times).
In short, to my great regret, I was committed to repairing, especially when we are closer to planned obsolescence than maintenance...
I will be leaning towards a Brother laser printer which, given the lifespan and the cost of toner, should be more durable and less expensive to use.
Thanks again for the messages.
Hi,
I don't know if you're going to continue, but on this page, there is the procedure for "the service mode of your printer" ==> click here
The text:
Canon – MG series
- Turn off your Canon printer.
- Press and hold the RESET button on your Canon printer.
- Press and hold the POWER button on the printer (wait a moment for the printer to turn on).
- Release the RESET button but continue to hold the POWER button.
- While holding the POWER button, press and release the RESET button 6 times for printers without a scanner, press it 6 times.
- After pressing and releasing the RESET button the specified number of times, wait a moment before releasing the POWER button.
Cheers,
Thank you for the response and the link to the procedure.
On my Canon MG3650, the service mode is activated by pressing the RESET button 3 times, activation confirmed by the WicResetConnect utility downloaded from the link Instructions, access, troubleshooting - WicResetConnect.com, but which requires an activation key.
The same observation with the utilities ST1050, ST5103, ST4718 which indicate that the service mode is activated but still return error code 006.

hi
I just read this in an old thread:
Ps: the printer must be connected via USB to the computer only after being put in service mode.
Did you proceed this way?
The link to the thread ==> click here where the error 006 is also mentioned, which may come from the printer, and not from the utility(ies) used
The full link to the thread ==> click here
You have a trial version of Wic Reset on this page ==> click here
PS: The waste counters will be reset to 80%.
The paid version costs €9.99 ► Usable for life
