Hello

For the past few days, a window has been popping up about once an hour to offer me the installation of CCleaner, even though it is already installed on my computer. I acknowledge that an older version of CCleaner is installed, but why am I being offered to install software that is already on my PC, and why does this window keep appearing non-stop? No matter how many times I close it, it reopens again every hour! It's annoying!!!!

Thank you in advance for your help

Hello,

It's quite simple to fix, you just need to configure it to solve the problem.

Ccleaner is a sort of semi-malware; you constantly have to decline ads, notifications, and unwanted third-party applications.

I don't know why you're using this software, but it's not meant to make your operating system lighter; it's just a tool that's only useful when you know what you're really dealing with. Many novices believe the urban legend that it's a miracle application, which is often the opposite for those with little experience.

Hello,

See if there is a CCleaner program that starts up:
Check in Settings > Apps on Windows.

You can also use Revo Uninstaller.

If you find anything, uninstall it.

Also check if there’s a CCleaner application that launches when the PC starts. Go to Task Manager to do this check. (Ctrl + Shift + Escape).

Good luck! CCleaner is just as sticky as Captain Haddock’s adhesive band.

What is well conceived is clearly stated,
And the words to say it come easily.

Hello,

Among other joys, Ccleaner, which by the way is useless except for registry cleaning under very specific circumstances (not to speed anything up but for example to get rid of old traces that would prevent a software reinstallation), and whatever you do in its settings, it indeed registers 3 tasks in the task manager, one of which is an update that you need to disable, perhaps via Autoruns.

If you want to keep it and update it, it’s always possible to do it manually.

So I need to uninstall it?

You who see, but outside of very specific contexts like the one I mentioned, not only does it bombard the user with notifications to "encourage" them to pay and unnecessarily consume resources, but it does more harm than good because we will have deleted a useful entry, tried to update drivers that weren't requested (never change a winning team) or had the illusion of gaining a little space.

Windows is more than enough to identify the essentials of what is unnecessary or takes up space through the settings (temporary folders, downloads, images, and videos) and can also be easily located "by hand".

The same applies to all the other pseudo-optimizers.

CCleaner is not to be disparaged so intensely by some and others; I wouldn't pay much for it, but it's not a harmful software, nor completely useless (for certain functions), but its tasks...

I don't know if it still forces its useless task of CCleanerCrashReporting

I banish this task once (vaccinated against it) and forget it.

But you need to properly delete the task before vaccinating with the .bat file

del /s /f /a:h /a:S /a:r /a:- "c:\Windows\System32\Tasks\CCleanerCrashReporting"
md "C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\CCleanerCrashReporting"
type nul > "\\?\c:\Windows\System32\Tasks\CCleanerCrashReporting\NUL"

The rest is taken care of by CCleaner's configuration and its updates, and with Autoruns to keep it simple, rather than opening Windows Task Scheduler.

Not necessarily.

In CCleaner's Update options, uncheck everything.

Download Autoruns

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns

Find the CCleaner items that are set to start automatically, and remove the startup entries.

Afterwards, if they come back after using CCleaner, we'll see.

Hello,

What if you disable CCleaner updates?

And in the Filter box, run Autoruns.64.exe as Administrator and type CCleaner

Delete everything.
