Recurring crashes on Windows 11

Hello everyone and thank you in advance for any help,

I recently built a PC.
It's a combination of new and used parts.

The PC works pretty well but (of course, otherwise it wouldn't be fun) I have recurring crashes.

Let's describe the beast:
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 AM4 TDP 65W 6 cores (no overclocking) NEW
Liquid cooling EMPIRE GAMING - Guardian G-V20 NEW
Motherboard Gigabyte A520M DS3H V2 BIOS updated to version F5g (11/03/2025) NEW
RAM DDR4 28 GB 2666 (1333 MHz) 1 of 16GB SAMSUNG NEW - 1 of 4GB Kingston Used - 1 of 8GB G.Skill
Graphics Card MSI AERO GTX 1070 TI Used
SSD Lexar NM610PRO 1TB NEW (or at least recent)
+ 2 HDDs of 1TB each used
Power Supply MSI MAG A650BN NEW (or at least recent)
all running on Windows 11 (tiny)

The crash manifests as an abrupt PC restart (sometimes once a day during office and media usage and more in games like Ark)
The reliability monitor indicates that Windows did not shut down properly = The previous system shutdown at 20:17:07 on ‎29/‎08/‎2025 was unexpected.

Drivers are up to date and so is Windows.

Using software, I tested with OCCT, no crashes.
I tested the memory because yes, in this regard it's exotic with Memtest at PC startup but nothing abnormal.

I physically tested:
- each RAM module separately, so alone: the crashes continue
- I tested with another used graphics card, a 1050 ti, and the crashes continue.

I think Windows is the problem but I can't find much info.
I sometimes find topics that resemble what I'm describing but no solutions other than to do updates.
But everything is already up to date unless I'm mistaken.

If you need more info, don't hesitate

And thanks again

Hello

Try a diagnosis https://userdiag.com/fr/

Run a long test, paste the report link here.

I see two potentially risky things, as already noted, mixing RAM is not a good idea.

The other is the tiny mod for Windows; with certain hardware, these modified OS can cause similar failures.

Hello,

In my opinion, it's because you're mixing anything as RAM; just because your motherboard mentions DDR4 doesn't mean you can use just anything. You need to follow a logic imposed by the compatibility list of the motherboard, see the official site support tab.

Yes, the RAM is secondhand.

I specify that it works very well on my old setup with an i5-6500 and Windows 10.

I tested each stick alone except for the 4 GB, I didn't want to test Win11 with only 4 GB.

None of the sticks appear on the compatibility list.

Amd Ryzen 5 3600 = 2019, yes it’s not brand new but it was within my very tight budget, it’s new.

My case is new, an AEROCOOL Mid Tower PC Case Volcan G v1.

All the fans are new and clean.

The issue occurs even after starting up.

Black screen and restart.

OCCT pushed the fans to full speed and nothing, temperature was normal as well.

I had launched a game + OCCT with a dual screen, monitoring nothing odd...

This can happen even when I use LibreOffice.

Windows Tiny was for the lightness and I've had enough of Microsoft.

No overclocking, I'm not a fan, it makes me laugh with others but not for me.

Here's the link to the test.

We come back to the RAM; I need to see if I have something compatible but likely slower... (I ordered that, it will arrive Thursday)

My use of CCleaner and DriversCloud remains basic, no hardcore cleaning unnecessary.

I have Tiny 11 on all of my PCs (5 including my son's at his mother's) and no problems.

The 1070 Ti has been tested with 3D Mark and FurMark, no issues.

I have liquid cooling on the CPU, see the reference above.

Here's the same test with a single stick and the return of the 1070 Ti.

According to previous diagnostics, the VRMs on the motherboard are overheating abnormally; it could be that... without certainty since it wouldn't crash when cold. It's worth trying with the case open to allow for better cooling inside. Just to give it a shot.

Otherwise, there is nothing concrete. It's an intermittent failure, the hardest to find, especially since it could very well be software or hardware related.

Open or closed PC, same result

Okay, the user diagnostics are normal except for the VRM power phases on the motherboard, but in fact, the PC should be entrusted to someone who has at least some equipment to conduct cross-tests. Otherwise, you'll make random changes, and I'd rather stay on the safe side to avoid leading you to make a mistake by advising you this or that.

The only thing you can try for cheap since you probably have the equipment on hand is to reinstall Windows on another drive to see if 1) it's not the Windows installation that's the problem 2) it's not the SSD.

I installed Windows 11 freshly downloaded from Microsoft sites on an SSD.

I let it run for a few hours and I still have the same problem.

The reliability history shows 4 crashes.

Hello,

The reliability history indicated 4 crashes.

Could you specify the crashes?

I need help, no AMD or Intel trolls, I've never had any issues. But give me your wallet if you can afford to buy new every 6 months...

we could laugh a little more... if it's software-related, that's my friends Brup, Panth, Eric, and Flo's area; they're probably asleep...

3600 is old, did you put tiny out of obligation or not?

If I were you, I would clean the PC: a small brush for the fans and finish with a hairdryer; that will be more than enough, it takes 10 minutes, etc... but I think you've probably done that... you'll understand later why.

Did you overclock or not?

Install GPU-Z and CPU-Z, launch a game and have Google open, and give the temperatures of both.

Then the friends will take over for system error reports, so provide those as well.

Last question: is your crashing a black screen with fans on full and a restart, a blue screen and a restart, or something else...

Some news.

The RAM arrived with a lot of delays.

But it still crashes.

I tested with another motherboard.

Still the same issue.

Returning the CPU to Amazon.

Waiting for the new parts. I’ll keep you updated.

I just reinstalled my processor; I upgraded to a Ryzen 5 5500.
So far, no issues.

UPDATE 15 10 2025

I think we can say that the issue is resolved and close the topic.

it's AMD, it's normal for it to crash, and plus you have used components, you're looking for trouble... xD I have some ideas, but I have extreme methods. Wait and try the gentle methods of the other members
