Reset Canon TS6350 ink absorber counter

Hello,

Almost everything is in the title: my printer first displayed a message about the ink absorber being almost full. I didn’t have time (and, admittedly, I didn’t really want to) to take care of it, and one day error code 5B00 appeared and now it’s completely unusable (even the scanner, great, if this isn’t planned obsolescence and a scam I don’t know).

The printer is out of warranty; I still called Canon support and they propose either to unlock the printer by sending it to their maintenance center but that costs €81, or if I don’t want to pay for the repair, a 20% discount voucher to buy another Canon

The deal is just shameful, especially when you know Epson offers the same repair for free even for out-of-warranty printers.

Anyway, before I decide to throw away a printer that only has its ink collection tray full, I’m trying to see if I can unlock it myself.

I started cleaning the ink absorbers under the ink pad block, but all that won’t help if I can’t reset the infamous counter that blocks the printer.

I saw online that some people propose downloading software to reset this counter for about ten euros, but I don’t trust it, probably a virus nest, and obviously I don’t have the guarantee that it works.

I’ve seen other methods but they aren’t specific to my model, even if they are Canon.

Anyone have a reliable tip for a Pixma TS6350?

    You can try a manual manipulation (without software)


    Some Canon printers allow you to reset the counter via a button combination to enter service mode. Unfortunately, the TS6350 does not have a standard manual procedure documented for this model, but you can try a general method that works on similar models (such as the MG6350):

    Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power supply.
    Enter service mode:
    Press and hold the Stop/Reset button (triangle in a circle).
    While holding Stop/Reset, press and hold the Power button (ON/OFF) and keep both buttons pressed for 5 seconds.
    Release Stop/Reset, then press it twice quickly while continuing to hold Power.
    Release Power. The printer should enter service mode (the indicator light may flash or the screen may display a message like "Service Mode").
    Reset:
    Press Stop/Reset 4 to 6 times (try different combinations, as it varies by model).
    Turn off and then turn the printer back on.
    Check if the 5B00 error has disappeared.
    This method is not guaranteed for the TS6350, as procedures vary by model, and some sources indicate that newer models like yours require software.

    The Canon Service Tool software (such as version V3400 or V3600) is often mentioned for resetting ink counters. However, be careful, as many sites offering these tools may include malware.

      It's true that I saw a site that grouped this type of procedures for a lot of Canon models, but mine wasn't there so I didn't push it in that regard.
