Problem with second screen after upgrade

Hello,

I am facing a critical problem with my ASUS ROG Strix G614JU laptop. After a hardware upgrade, the HDMI output no longer works at all, which completely prevents me from working or gaming with a second screen.

????️ Context:
I replaced:

The original RAM (2×8 GB) with 2×16 GB compatible DDR5

Added an additional SSD (1 TB)

After the assembly, everything was working except for one very important detail:
➡️ My second screen connected via HDMI is no longer receiving any signal.

❌ Problem observed:
The external screen physically activates (blue LED, "cable detected") when I plug in the HDMI cable

But the screen displays: "No signal"

Windows does not detect it in the display settings

Even in the BIOS, no image is sent to the external screen

✅ Checks carried out:
I put the old RAM sticks back → no change

The SSD is recognized, and the RAM (32 GB) is also

My NVIDIA RTX 4050 graphics card is detected after a clean driver reinstall (via DDU)

The Intel UHD Graphics iGPU is also visible

Installing another OS

I tested with:

The screen and HDMI cable on another PC → they work perfectly

An active USB-C to HDMI adapter, connected to the USB-C port with DisplayPort logo (⚡ + DP)

The screen remains black

Same problem, no detection in Windows

???? Troubleshooting attempts already made:
Complete BIOS reset (Load Optimized Defaults)

Access to advanced BIOS (F7) → but no visible option to enable/disable the iGPU or a MUX Switch

Update and reinstall NVIDIA and Intel drivers (with Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode)

Testing both USB-C ports → only the one with the "⚡ + DP" logo is supposed to allow video output

Installation and testing via Armoury Crate, in the GPU Mode tab:

Tested all modes: Optimized, Standard, and GPU only

No change

Testing HDMI with an active USB-C to HDMI adapter, properly connected to HDMI OUT → still no signal

Installed the latest GPU drivers from the official ASUS and NVIDIA websites

Multiple reboots, tests with and without battery, screen connected cold and hot

???? Conclusion:
The problem appeared after the hardware installation

It persists even after returning to the original configuration

The HDMI port no longer works, including via iGPU (Intel) or dGPU (USB-C)

The screen works on other PCs

The PC does not detect the external display at all

???? I am considering several possible causes:
Hidden option in the BIOS related to the iGPU or MUX switch

Silent deactivation of DisplayPort Alt Mode

Firmware or voltage issue (hardware protection or discharge)

HDMI port or iGPU video lines potentially damaged during disassembly

???? I would need:
Confirmation that the HDMI port is properly wired to the iGPU

A way to manually enable or reactivate the iGPU or MUX Switch

A BIOS version that displays all graphical options

A way to force the video output to HDMI or USB-C

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello

One thing is certain, using DDU on a laptop is destructive and should only be used under very specific conditions; in fact, this software shouldn't be available to the general public in my opinion.

Armoury Crate should also be banned.

Now you can reinstall all the drivers but from the Asus website, because the automatic switch between the Intel igpu and the Nvidia card requires proprietary drivers, those from Asus here: https://rog.asus.com/fr/laptops/rog-strix/rog-strix-g16-2023-series/helpdesk_download/

(Make sure it's really your laptop)

Installing a driver from Nvidia is not suitable, and using DDU also messes up the registry.

Also reinstall the Intel chipset driver if there is one, without uninstalling anything beforehand, so on top, including for the main display driver.

If the damage to the registry wasn't too advanced, it should work again for the screen.

Hello,
Thank you for all your explanations. I have installed everything correctly and the only change I've noticed (unless I just didn't notice it before) is that when I use my USB-C to HDMI adapter, my PC detects that a USB device is connected but there is a failure.
