Hp officejet7612 printer missing printhead

Hello,
My HP OfficeJet 7612 printer displays this message: "printhead missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed."
I followed HP's troubleshooting steps, but of course, nothing works. It no longer prints and also refuses to let me access the scanner menu!
I have turned it off, restarted it, unplugged it, waited, waited some more, updated the HP software, removed and replaced the cartridges... same issue.
My printer has fixed, non-removable printheads.
Has anyone resolved this problem before?

If there is no latch, the print head is not replaceable. Please visit Contact HP Customer Support to schedule a repair or product exchange.

It is possible in this context that the print head is dead (out of order…)!
