Hello,
I have a JVC GR-DVL160EG camcorder from 2002, and I would like to transfer the mini DV tapes to my ASUS PC.
What cable(s) do I need??
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
To connect a JVC GR-DVL160EG camcorder to a computer, you can use a video capture card with a FireWire (IEEE 1394) input or a USB cable if your computer is equipped with a USB port and the camcorder supports this connection. The JVC GR-DVL160EG camcorder has a DV output and a PC output (jack type), but it is not specified whether it is directly compatible with USB. It is recommended to install a video capture card to facilitate the transfer of videos to the computer.
Thank you for your response.
Do you have a model of video capture card with FireWire input that you can recommend?
For a video capture card with FireWire input, the Pinnacle DV 1394-400 is a recommended option. It offers two FireWire inputs and is compatible with all PCs. It is also easy to use and recognized directly under Linux.
Another option is the DV Capture Card - 1394 / FireWire, which is also available on the market and can be purchased online.
