Burn camcorder videos to DVD

Hello, I bought a digital camcorder and I don't know how to record videos on a DVD. I researched and I can't use a FireWire IEEE 1394 card because the connection from the camcorder to the computer is a USB connection. How should I proceed? Thank you in advance (please explain this as clearly as possible because I'm not very knowledgeable about computers).
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

What exactly is a capture box, where can I find one, and what is the approximate price? Thank you for your answer.

I have a Sony HDR-SR1 camcorder and I have a Sony Bravia full HD TV. I can watch films from the camcorder without any problem, but I can't burn the films onto my Toshiba RD-XV47K DVD recorder, which is a DVD recorder with a hard drive and VHS player.

Hello, my camcorder is a sub-brand "PROTAX", it works with an "SD" memory card and the connection between the camcorder and the PC is a USB cable. Thank you for any information!

      Hello,

I see there are several models from this brand. Don't you have a manual supplied with it? No software accompanying it?

Do you have an SD card reader on your PC?

Hello Judex, thank you for helping me out of this mess to burn a DVD from my digital camcorder on my PC. I have a card reader (so SD).

      Hello,

Normally, at first, you should be able to manage without using the USB connection.

Insert the SD card from your reader into the camcorder and check its contents with Windows Explorer.

You should normally have direct access to your movies, which are probably already saved in AVI or MPG format.

One more thing, was your camcorder not provided with an installation CD, possibly containing utilities to handle your recordings?
