Computer unable to reboot after defragmentation with Tw

Hello,

I downloaded the Tweakpower software that you praised in your latest newsletter to optimize the performance of my PC running Windows 10.

I wanted to try a defragmentation. Result: after restarting the computer as requested, I can no longer access it! My password is considered "incorrect." When prompted to "Try again," no matter how many times I enter it, I'm going in circles!

If I then try to reset the password, it tells me "This feature requires a removable media, such as a USB flash drive. Connect a USB flash drive and try again."

I have an external drive that I update from time to time, but when I connect it, nothing happens either...

Who could help me regain access to my computer? Thank you very much in advance.

    Hello

    Most current PCs are equipped with SSDs rather than mechanical drives. SSDs do not defragment...

    Be cautious with pseudo optimization tools.

    To get back to your issue: regarding the password, make sure that the letters and numbers are correct, the numeric keypad may be disabled.

    Once that's done, try performing a system restore by following this tip (point 2 for your case):

    Hello flo88, thank you for your message, but it doesn't help me much, except to understand that I've made a big mistake trying to defragment my computer...

    I obviously checked that my password was correct.

    As for trying to do a system restore, I don't see how to do that since the computer is stuck...

    Unfortunately, I have read your tutorial, but I cannot access any page as long as the password is inactive...

    On the only page that is accessible to me (the one where I need to enter the password), I only have access to the icon indicating that my Wi-Fi is activated, the accessibility options (narrator, magnifier, on-screen keyboard, high contrast, sticky keys, filter keys), and the classic power button (sleep, shut down, and restart).

    I had already tried restarting the computer several times in a row before posting my request...

    I am really stuck and don't see how to get out of this...

    Can you go into safe mode?

    If so, try a system restore as suggested and choose a date before the problem occurred.
     
    Windows + R
    Type --> rstrui.exe and hit OK.

    If I press Windows + R, either nothing happens, or an R appears in the line where I should enter my password...

    I need to find a way to bypass the password, since it is no longer recognized since I restarted the computer after defragmenting the TweakPower software....

    Shouldn't we use this shortcut for the password?

    Windows + R is a shortcut for the --> run function

    You need to start by going into -->> safe mode <<--

    Can you access it?

    Press F8 at startup and see what happens.

    I just tapped F8 on startup: nothing. I tried again by tapping all the keys from F1 to F12, one after the other during the restart: still nothing...

    It's discouraging...

    I also think this will end with a complete reinstallation.

    The safe mode in Windows 10 and 11, if the PC is not functional, can only be accessed by hard shutting down the PC multiple times (power cut). Given the situation, it’s worth a try, but there remains a risk that the password will still be requested during the restoration...
