Computer won't turn on

Hello,

My desktop PC won’t turn on anymore. At the repair shop, it works perfectly. I’ve tried different cables, in different outlets,... Nothing, as if the power supply was fried, but at the repair shop, it runs flawlessly.

In my opinion, it can only be the electrical network. I’m considering buying an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). What do you think?

Thank you in advance.

Good evening,

A power inverter will not solve your problem.

- on one hand, because it is only designed to work for a few minutes, just enough time to back up the work in progress (it is a battery that takes over in case of a power outage).

- on the other hand, because if a computer doesn’t even start, other devices connected to the same electrical network would experience operational issues.

Suggestions:

- test your PC at a neighbor's or a friend's.

- have your electrical installation checked by your electricity supplier.

- check the functioning of a laptop.

Thank you for the response.

I have a laptop plugged into the same outlet and it works.

I will check with my neighbor.

Hello,

Unplug the laptop and plug in your PC instead.

If both the laptop and the PC are plugged into the same socket, it's probably because you have a power strip to make that possible. Change the power strip.

Hello

there is a problem with the outlet (faulty ground)

a laptop can work very well because the power supply is not grounded

Thank you for all your responses.

I tested the ground with a multimeter and it seems to be good, but I haven't tested the earth resistance.
