My mouse pointer is acting crazy.

Hi, for the past few days, I've been increasingly losing control of the pointer on my Asus ZenBook S 13, Windows 11.

Sometimes the pointer goes all over the place, clicking everywhere. Other times, it gets stuck in a corner... until I restart the computer or after several minutes.

I don't have any driver updates available, and I uninstalled the mouse driver to reinstall it. Then finally, I ran a full antivirus scan with Windows. And when it's not too bad, I feel like my mouse is a bit tipsy...

What should I do?

    Hello,

Touchpad or external mouse? In the latter case, try another mouse. For the touchpad, you should also try an external mouse while disabling the touchpad. I've experienced a faulty touchpad before; there's nothing you can do except replace it or use an external mouse.

To check if it's a software issue, try using the PC in safe mode with networking. Or better yet, boot from a USB drive with a live Windows or Linux OS.

    Hello,

This is a frustrating issue :(

To resolve the problem, try using a different USB port or another mouse if you are using an external mouse. If it’s the touchpad, temporarily disable it by going to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad and turning it off to see if that helps.

    Good luck!

Since my computer has a touchscreen, I disable the touchpad every time it acts up to switch to tablet mode. But it's very problematic...
