Unable to access the BIOS

Hello,

When I start my PC (Packard Bell Easynote TK87), it goes directly into Windows 10; I don’t see "Packard Bell" scrolling by, the F2 key is unresponsive, and therefore I can't enter the BIOS to change it.

Can you provide me with a solution?

    Hello.

    If your PC starts up, it means it’s accessing the BIOS because without the BIOS checks, it wouldn't be able to launch Windows. You need to tap the F2 key as soon as you press the power button; in your case, you need to be very quick because on your PC, the BIOS loads apparently very quickly.

    This is what I'm doing, I even keep my finger on it but I can't see the BIOS, my PC isn't fast, it's an old model, I don't even see "Packard Bell" scrolling by and yet, before I could clearly see the prompt to press F2 to enter the BIOS, which has now disappeared.

      Hello,

      try the F12 key, it's the boot menu; if it's enabled, you can also access the BIOS from there by selecting "Enter Setup."

      edit: If that doesn't work, try quickly tapping the F keys while holding down the Fn key at the same time.

    Thank you, I've done all that and still the same problem, given the flashing lights it immediately goes into Windows. It's the first time this has happened to me and apart from that Windows works fine but I would like to install an SSD and I can't boot from the installation USB stick.

      A slightly more radical solution would be to open the PC and remove/replace or change the battery that powers the BIOS; upon restarting, logically, the PC should ask you to redo the BIOS settings by prompting you to enter it.

        Thank you for the response.

        I removed the battery and tried to start without it, and to my surprise, Windows starts and is operational without the battery. I don't understand anything anymore; does that mean it's skipping the BIOS!!!

        A PC cannot operate without the BIOS. The only reason to prevent access to it is in some cases the BIOS battery being defective, the F2 key on the keyboard being faulty, or the use of an external keyboard with a laptop, because neither are active during the BIOS POST.

        Note: this PC has a standard BIOS, not a UEFI BIOS.

        It is also possible that it is not actually turned off, but in sleep mode after a normal shutdown; in this case, the only way to enter the BIOS is after a restart. (Shut down/restart)

        As strange as it may seem, after removing and reinserting the battery (reset), and taking out the BIOS battery, the PC restarts almost immediately without any problems in Windows, and I still haven't seen the BIOS or gone in there. Incomprehensible!!!

    Thank you for the response, I placed the order and unfortunately here's the reply: The firmware for this system does not support rebooting to the user interface. (1)
