Messages from my folders no longer appear in Thunderbird
SolvedAnonymous user -
Hello
I have a big problem with Thunderbird all of a sudden: the messages included in my folders and subfolders no longer appear when I click on the folder, or if they do appear, they disappear within a second; when I click on a folder, a message appears: no messages found; only for two folders do messages appear
I am using IMAP; I have opened all the folders and subfolders, but I haven't found any messages
I don't know the cause of this problem
I am receiving all messages correctly; those I send go to 'sent', and only the messages in the folders I created myself do not appear; however, those contained in the usual folders of each account (Sent, drafts, trash, etc.) appear fine; the new messages received that I move to a folder do appear
I checked with sSoftToolsViewer (is there another application?) to read the files in my profile and I find my messages in most cases
Since I have many folders and messages, I have activated the “automatic compacting” function to the maximum; I have disabled it, in vain; by the way, I would like to purge a certain number of them, but first I need to be able to read them to see if I keep them or not; and those that I remove, I don't know where to put them fearing I might need them later
Sincerely

Your email database may be damaged. Thunderbird has a feature to repair folders that might solve your problem. To use this feature, right-click on the folder you want to repair (in the left column of Thunderbird), then click on "Properties...". In the "General" tab, you should see a "Repair Folder" button. Click on this button, and Thunderbird will attempt to repair the folder. Repeat this procedure for each folder that has issues.
If this doesn't solve the problem, it is also possible that Thunderbird's index file is corrupted. To fix this, you can try closing Thunderbird, navigating to your Thunderbird profile in the file explorer (usually in the AppData folder of your user folder, under "Thunderbird\Profiles"), finding the folder corresponding to your email account, and deleting the files with the .msf extension (for example, Inbox.msf). These files will be rebuilt when you restart Thunderbird.
Make sure to back up your Thunderbird profile before making these changes so you can restore it if something doesn’t go as planned.
