High CPU Temperature, LENOVO LEGION 5 LAPTOP

Hello everyone,

I am reaching out to you regarding a problem I just noticed on my Legion Pro 5 16ARX8 PC.

When I play Marvel Spider-Man 2, a game that requires a lot of resources,
the temperature of my CPU exceeds 90°, and sometimes the game crashes. Knowing that it is not even at half of its capacity (see image below)

My PC has more than enough performance for this kind of game:

AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX with Radeon Graphics           3.60 GHz

32GB of RAM

RTX 4070

Do you have any tips or settings I could enable to reduce the temperature a bit?

    Max frequencies and 100% utilization are indeed not exactly the same issue.

    Frequency variations are only visible with software capable of capturing data on the fly because the variations are so rapid that most programs don't see anything.

    The best in this game is HWMONITOR.

    It captures the minimum, maximum, and current frequency.

    Also, if your laptop is set in the power options to "high performance," it's a bit normal that you don't see the frequency fluctuate much. If you unplug it from the power source, you'll immediately see if the eco functions are working because on battery, the performance profile drops.

    Another point on this subject, with an AMD CPU, you need to ensure the chipset drivers are properly installed and up to date.

    In short, given what you've noted, a Lenovo or Acer gaming laptop that overheats is nothing new; PC tech forums are full of these problematic models.

    Apart from the solutions I've already provided, which basically consist of completely reinstalling Windows in the first place, I've covered all the bases as far as I'm concerned.

    Hello,

    We should check that there is no dust in the ventilation.

    I can also recommend a cooling stand for laptops; that could help.

    How old is the computer?

    PC well placed flat, with no obstruction to the air vents

    No power-hungry applications, I haven't overclocked any components.

    The same goes for the CPU frequency, which always peaks at its max, without actually playing.

    If anyone has a Lenovo Legion 5 of the same generation, I'm interested.

    You mean your processor is running full throttle for no reason? All the time? If that's the case, you might have a viral infection. Or your Windows installation is messed up. Have you tried reinstalling it from scratch?

    No, the processor isn't maxed out, but its frequency is, as shown in the attachment at the beginning of the conversation.

    Regarding viral infections, I don't think I have any.

    Nothing unusual in terms of processes.

    The ideal would be to find someone with the same model ????
