Systematic shutdown of the Messages app

Hello.

On my Galaxy S21 FE 5G running Android 14, the default Messages app has not been working properly since today. Messages is on version 15.0.20.5.

When opening certain messages, the app crashes, sometimes displaying the message "Messages keeps stopping" with the options "App info," "Close app," "Send feedback."

It's impossible to send SMS or reply.

Does anyone have a solution?

The pre-installed Messages app is not available on the Play Store.

The app cannot be uninstalled and then reinstalled. I don't know if an update is available.

I have tried several operations without success.

Force stop: same bug.

Clear cache: same bug.

Start in safe mode: same bug.

I do not want to reset the phone. I would prefer to change the Messages app (for example, the Google one also pre-installed).

Is the problem coming from the Messages app or Android?

Thank you for suggesting other solutions.

PS I will be away from home for about ten days, so I will probably be less responsive.

Hello,

I have no idea about the dysfunction.

If I remember correctly, Samsung devices have a number of proprietary applications, probably including this one, which by definition, if it's a update problem, are not available on the Google Play Store but on the Galaxy Store.

In most cases (I've experienced it), switching from one messaging app to another does not prevent the preservation of contacts and conversation history.

I can't find my Messages app in the Galaxy Store either.

I will wait a few more days for other advice before I decide to change applications.

The application spontaneously started working again yesterday morning without any manipulation!

Let's hope it lasts...

What was the cause of the malfunction? A mystery...
