Hello,

I have a house whose gate was left open for a while because it was broken. After being away for a few weeks, I just found that someone entered my property (there are no easements and no houses under construction around) and has installed or dug up? a manhole with pipes inside. Can you tell me if this is indeed an installation for fiber optic and whether it is normal for technicians to enter without my consent to do this?

Thank you

Hello,

Yes, it's a telecom look, not just fiber, did you open it?, it’s possible that the technicians wanted to check that you were connected in the absence of being able to ask you the question.

And there you go, there you go....

But misery, how annoying the line spacing is!!

What do you mean by not just fiber? What are all these sheaths for, please?

Hello,

This can be used to install any telecom cabling, it is not reserved for a fiber cable.

These conduits are useless for the moment, they are not being used.

These conduits are buried and form a network that allows for the installation of cabling between suppliers and users.

It's strange that there are 4 conduits indeed, two should be enough, but perhaps one was planned for the phone and one for the fiber during construction, that's conceivable; the conduit isn't the most expensive when digging a trench, especially if it's just a few meters.

In fact, the latest recommendations from 2016 do provide for the installation of two conduits, one main and one reserve:

It was me who opened it yes, they put a slab on top, if the access point was already there it must have been buried under the grass because I never noticed anything in that spot

It often happens that they end up buried; at least, you know where it is now, but make sure that it stays visible, it will be useful one day, I suppose it is on the property line?

Hello,

If there are no signs of excavation (trenches), the access point is old.

And since there is an inlet and an outlet, there must be another inlet (another access point or house) somewhere.

By threading a needle (soft wire or plastic), you will have the distance.

You don't have any cable running through...
Maybe it was someone looking for the water meter who got it wrong!
