Hello, context: for the past few days I've been experiencing issues with Firefox on my ZIMBRA email: I can receive/read emails OK but it's impossible to compose a new email (keyboard keys inactive in the field).

I then switched to the Chrome browser where I can fully use my email. Question: when I download a file (pdf, jpg, gif, docx...) I don't have any action choices to make but I'm directed straight to the save function. In the Chrome settings, I couldn't find where to set the action to take, and if I want to open the document, which application to use. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely.

Good evening, after rummaging around a bit, I finally found the solution. Here’s a summary with supporting images, I hope it's clear enough.

You should follow these steps:

- start by downloading the file in question (attached to an email or retrieved from a website)

- then in the upper right corner of the Chrome page, click (left) on the 'downloads' icon. A window will then open with the list of recently downloaded file names,

- point to the name of the file to open (pdf, docx, xlsx, pptx, jpg, png...). The following box will then be displayed

- right-click on the name of this file. A context menu will then open

- left-click on the second option of this menu: "Always open files of this type".

Chrome will then save the choice to open this type of file extension with the application specified in the Windows settings as the default application to open this type of extension. So check your default application settings.

That's it, it's saved. The next time you click on a file type that has been configured in this way, the file will open automatically.

Best regards.
