How to uninstall the Ecosia search engine?

Hello,
I want to get rid of the Ecosia search engine.
Even when I delete it from my list of search engines, it keeps coming back. I feel like it's a scam (if not worse).

Does anyone know how to do this?

    In fact, you need to disable (or remove) the Ecosia extension, and not just remove it from the list of search engines.

      It's not in my extensions and yet it still appears whenever I launch Chrome; it's a nightmare this thing.
