Which SSD is compatible with my HP Victus?

Hello,

I am subscribed to Game Pass on the Xbox app on Windows 11, but I need to download the games and I only have 500GB; with 3 games I've already used half of that 500GB.

Can I use any 1TB (minimum) SSD or are certain newer ones not compatible with my PC's configuration?

My PC is this one

Hello,

according to the technical sheet, you need an M.2 format Nvme SSD.
What is your budget?

Hello,

Thank you for your response, but if I use it with the adapter, can I not install Windows on it?

He was thinking of putting it in the PC instead of the other one. I already have an external hard drive of 1 TB.

The one you showed me is compatible with my PC; is it powerful enough for such a large memory?

And I need to make a USB stick to reinstall Windows, and I forgot how to do it; I did it a long time ago.

Hello, you'll need to reinstall everything but yes, of course, you can replace your old one.

It's not very complicated to create an installation media using the Windows tool:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-installation-media-for-windows-99a58364-8c02-206f-aa6f-40c3b507420d

But it might be interesting to have an adapter to keep the old one as external storage.

you need to clone your current NVME onto the new NVME using software like Acronis, Macrium cloning...... => you need to be able to connect the new NVME via USB

that's why I'm pointing out a case that you can also use later for your old NVME

> Clone a hard drive <

there's no question of reinstalling everything

Hello,

A big thank you for your advice. I've already backed everything up on my external hard drive: photos, videos, documents, etc. I'm sure I'll mess up the cloning. I can't even remember how to create a bootable USB anymore. Too bad for the software. Anyway, it's almost empty now. Last month, I put everything I wanted to keep on the external hard drive and did a factory reset because it had become way too slow.

So, I just have to try to unpack them without breaking anything and make a bootable USB.

Thank you for your help, it's very nice of you.

RE

I think it would be just as easy for you to clone your system partition with

> Macrium Reflect Free <

Plus, you wouldn't have to reinstall everything

Yes, you're right, it would be more practical; I need to put it back on the protocols to follow.

However, I still have a little question: the ubisolft app tells me that my PC's RAM is not sufficient for some games. After the SSD, what RAM do you recommend? Is it still sticks like before?

it's SODIMM for portable => RAM DDR4-2933 MHz [ (2x 4 Go) or (2x 8 Go) you really need to look closely ]

you need to remove the covers underneath

.

with 2x 4 Go, both sticks need to be replaced

> Corsair Vengeance SODIMM 16Go (2x8Go) DDR4 2933MHz < = €54

> Corsair DDR4 SODIMM 3000 MHz CL18 VENGEANCE 16 Go (2 x 8 Go) < = €50

Good evening,

Honestly, thank you so much. Seriously, you take the time to respond to me, you search and even find the price. It's rare to see such help in our time. Thank you, I will open it and try to remove a RAM stick. I looked at my old computer, which has both ports, one for the traditional hard drive and one for the SSD. And I can't manage to remove what I think is the RAM stick.

what you can remove is a stick (in + or - green)

it’s the two tabs on each side that you need to push apart before pulling

normally the stick is inserted at a 45° angle

you can also have 4 chips soldered on the motherboard; but you have an empty connector

on the old laptop, is it the same type of RAM???

DDR2, DDR3, DDR4

if it's not the same type of RAM, it won't fit
