Hello,
I have a question; I have an MSI Z97 Gaming 3 and I want to buy an NVMe M.2 SSD. Is it compatible with my M.2 port since it says M.2 SATA or PCIe?
Thank you
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 83.0

Hello,
info taken from the MSI Z97 Gaming 3 documentation:
-- M.2 port supports M.2 SATA 6Gb/s module >>> so the M.2 port is limited to SATA III for a SATA SSD
-- M.2 port supports M.2 PCIe module up to 10Gb/s speed >>> so the M.2 port supports a PCIe SSD up to 10 Gb/s (i.e., 1.25 Go/s): we're far from the performance of an NVMe SSD on PCIe 3.0 x 4 (4 Go/s)
for this motherboard, it's possible to install an adapter module on the 2nd PCIe x 16 port (PCI_E4) to take advantage of the speed of that port for an NVMe SSD type M key (I did it on an MSI Z97 Gaming 5) >>> photo of the adapter:
valid for a NVMe SSD type M key:

MSI doesn't provide much information about this motherboard. Apparently, it does have an M.2 SATA or NVMe (PCIe) port. So you can use an NVMe SSD. Be careful, though, as using the M.2 disables SATA ports 5 and 6. Additionally, the M.2 only works in UEFI mode, not in Legacy mode.

Bonjour, merci pour votre réponse. Est-ce qu'il sera possible d'installer Windows sur le SSD M2 ?
