Missing audio driver windows 11

Hello,

I have a problem with the audio input and output drivers on my PC; this morning the sound was working fine and now, this evening, Windows is telling me that no device is detected. When I run the troubleshooting, it simply says that no device is connected...

While browsing through my device managers, I came across this: I tried to update it but Windows says it doesn’t recognize the device.

If you need any more information, feel free to ask.

Have a good evening.

    hi

is your pc running W10/W11 in 32 or 64 bits?

provide the device identifier in alert ==> click here

PS: the 1st line is enough, post it via 1 copy/paste in your response

    example==> PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_81681849&REV_15

      Hello!

My PC is running W11 in 64 bit.

Here is the ID of the alert device: HDAUDIO\FUNC_00&VEN_10EC&DEV_0294&SUBSYS_00080000&REV_1800

      Thank you very much :)

    hi

did you copy/paste the identifier correctly?

    1) in search, type DXDIAG and click on Open

give the brand and model of your pc

    example:

    2) in device manager, check what you have under Audio, Video and Game Controllers, and post a screenshot

Yes, it was the device ID.

The brand of the PC is ASUSTek Computer INC.

      The model is Vivobook_ASUSLaptop M7600QE.

In audio controllers, I only have one driver that is already up to date according to Asus.

If you need any more information, feel free to ask!

I just saw this... if it can help you... by the way, my PC is coming back from ASUS's service center since yesterday... it went there due to loss of fps and repeated blue screens but it comes back repaired for sure, but with fewer drivers...

    Hello,

    Perform an sfc:
    Windows key + X
    Select --> Windows Terminal (administrator)
Type --> sfc /scannow and hit enter

A system file check will be carried out.

Everything is perfect according to them? Haha, don't worry, I'm going to try the technique that BillMaxime told me to use and we'll see :)

I have a problem with the audio input and output drivers on my PC; this morning the sound was working fine, and now Windows indicates that no device is detected.

As your problem is recent, you can perform a system restore using a restore point from a date before your issue (if you have restore points).

For the error code 28, it is recommended to uninstall the problematic device, and click on Action in the menu bar ==> scan for hardware changes ==> check this page.

    PS: perform this action first.

If the sound still does not work, you can perform a restore point.

    If you have any questions...

    hi

I just saw this... if it can help you... by the way, my PC is returning from ASUS technical support yesterday... it went there because of fps loss and repeated blue screens, but it is now repaired, albeit with fewer drivers...

since the PC is coming back from ASUS, I don't know if you'll have any restore points...

let us know how it goes after uninstalling the device

    PS: hi Kaneagle

    see you

You were right, I have 0 restore points and after doing the manipulations you told me, the alert device comes back as if nothing happened...

Out of curiosity, I wondered if downloading the audio drivers (Realtek on my PC) from the Asus download center would fix something... apparently it doesn't work either... I must admit I’m quite disheartened, the only thing I did between the moment when the sound was working and when it stopped was updating the driver for my NVIDIA graphics card...

    hi

ok, check the date and version of the driver for the device in error

    example

the only thing I did between the moment the sound was working and the moment it stopped, was to update my NVIDIA graphics card driver...

I'll check what's in the driver in question

      bad luck...

the last known parent of this driver is: PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E3&SUBSYS_11AF1043&REV_00\4&12c9051d&0&0641 I don’t know if that can help you.

and for my nvidia card, I updated to the latest version 546.33

I just checked my eligibility for Windows 23H2.

Will attempting this update resolve my issue, or is it better to hold off for now?

this is the identifier of ==> AMD High Definition Audio Device

PS: in the Nvidia graphics driver, there is also audio

I think the AMD driver needs to be updated

The AMD high definition audio driver is already up to date.

I also noticed the complete absence of the Audio Input and Output category in my device manager, which must correspond to the fact that I have absolutely no sound...

I was thinking, since I picked up my PC yesterday, I haven't really done any setup, I just updated my Nvidia drivers and Windows to 22H2. Could a factory reset help if after all that I still don't have my sound? Will I need to do any further actions after the reset?

    hi

you can reset the PC without data loss

before the Nvidia driver and Windows (22H2) update, was the sound working?

if so, see if you can roll back to the previous version of the Nvidia driver

    example:

    Perform a Windows repair.
Check this --> Repair Windows 11 without data loss

If the repair didn’t help, perform a clean installation of Windows 11
--> How to install Windows 11

      I attempted the installation.

I followed the tutorial and stopped at the point where I need to decide on the partition where I will install the Windows from my USB key.

I format the system partition as indicated in the tutorial, but I cannot install the new Windows because BitLocker encryption is blocking everything, so I decide to stop the installation, restart, and go back into the BIOS to boot from my old Windows, and surprise... I have nothing left.

      What to do?

    re

I managed to recover my key, but how can I access the control panel since there’s no more Windows on my PC?

Did you write it down on a piece of paper?

When you're on the page of your screenshot, format and delete all the partitions.

Once that's done, create a new partition (or 2 partitions depending on the space you have).

    And install W11.

    If you have any questions...

      Good evening,

The problem has gotten worse, I continued the offline installation, but I no longer have the wifi driver, still no sound driver, and a bunch of error codes...

I will take it to Boulanger for a warranty return, let's see if this kind of system damage can be covered? Even though I have worsened the problem, I initially didn't have any sound...

In any case, thank you for your support and for being kind enough to answer all my questions.

A clean format and reinstall should have worked?

    I suspect...

I followed the tutorial to the letter, with the only exception that since I had my BitLocker encryption blocking my drives, I had to format and delete them all to create 2 new ones...

I installed W11 and at setup, I couldn't connect to the internet simply because it didn't offer ANYTHING, completely blank screen. I managed to trick it to continue the setup without internet (using a cmd) and once I got to my desktop, I had NOTHING, all my Wi-Fi drivers are missing.

Just out of curiosity, do you think the steps I took could void my warranty? (it’s still under conformity warranty, I’ve only had it for a year)

And theoretically, what would the solution to this problem be...? I'm not going to try to do anything now; I won’t touch it again before I take it to the repair service...

I made a workaround to continue the setup without internet (by using a cmd)

Try reinstalling again and follow this tutorial carefully -->

    https://www.malekal.com/comment-installer-windows-11-sur-son-pc/

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is now back repaired, certainly, but with fewer drivers...

If the problem persists, back to the repair shop --> an incomplete repair????
