Good evening, I would like to buy a second-hand or new Samsung S23 Ultra 512GB if there is a promotion. Is it better to buy a UE version? And why?

Otherwise, should I avoid the USA version? Why?

It is not always specified, where to look on the phone or if it's new or?

    Hello,

You need to buy a smartphone in a version compatible with your region. If you live in France, or the EU more generally, don't venture into buying a US phone; the frequencies are not the same at all. You would risk not being able to use mobile data.

    Hello

It's better to buy American because you live in America.

In fact, I don't know anything; you're anonymous.

Let's take the US version; there might be a few different parts. And software too. But I don't know which ones.

"These are often versions intended for American carriers and they are often not compatible with the French network of these carriers. Often, updates are not deployed when a French SIM card is inserted." I was told that for France.

Initially, Samsung doesn't sell the same products in different countries.

The same version is sold in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Portugal.

There is already another version sold for Switzerland, which is right next door. Etc. I don’t know everything.

Besides that, we know that brands don't offer "exactly the same features" depending on the country.

So mainly the carriers might pose a problem, but sometimes the features too. And if the updates in 6 months don't continue, it's the same.

So we don't really know what to expect if the phone was originally a US version, what you can or should do if it doesn't work, etc.

I think if there are any "preferences" to be made, it's mainly due to these known differences without them being "counterfeits," it’s indeed Samsung that made everything.

If anyone has more details, can a simple update fix everything?

Thank you for your response, but where in the phone can I see the origin of the phone when sellers like Amazon, Cdiscount, and others do not specify it? Thank you.

      Hello,

Formally, and if the site does not specify (some Market Places only mention "imported phones", be cautious), you cannot; it is always safer to buy from the site itself rather than from one of its Market Places.

The fact that the model reference matches what you find in a physical store (Boulanger or whatever, for example, Samsung Galaxy A10 SM-A105M/DS) is an indication but not sufficient: the ultimate test is the CSC code, which can only be obtained with the phone in hand.

Another point to consider is the specification of frequency bands; be wary if they do not correspond to the French bands.

The price, if it is abnormally low compared to the competition, is also an indicator: they are trying to clear out what is unsellable.
