Pin code A1B2C3 locked and rejected by Windows

Hello,

I am helping my elderly parents. The Windows PIN is being refused as supposedly incorrect. They are prompted to enter the code A1B2C3 and then the PIN, but nothing works; the PIN error message keeps coming back. There is also no link to reset the PIN. Thank you for your help.

    What worked:

     It didn't work and for good reason, you need to type the numbers with the top keypad and not the numeric pad on the right.
